I've searched the internet and the British Sunday papers... not peep on Hughie's stand down - it's like the fight was only an NZ event.. not a world title accorded global coverage. There the only game in town is AJ v VK.
I want to hear what the Fury camp have to say too. But, the lack of detail regarding said injury nor a formal comment speaks volumes in my view. Something else is going on..

Just doesn't make sense to me. Hughie has a lot more to lose by opting out than showing up.
possible its all part of a game. if he gets a medical cert from an independent the wbo will struggle to push him down rankings. maybe they want a new purse bid so can control. and they know ducos number now.
What changed Mark? A day or so ago you were contacted via the Fury camp, now they don't show up?
Were you in charge of booking the hotel and ended up getting a shared dorm in the K Road Backpackers for them?

I think it's something like this. I get the impression the Furys won't fight unless they hold all the cards
i think the fact they have been in touch a bit over last few days gave me the above perspective as Junior was his sparring partner for thursday up until today.. something i couldn't say in public. so a bit of a surprise. on the other side of it i had been informed that fury was trying desperately to move to UK as stated in Stuff a few days ago.
maybe he did hurt himself and thats whys it off ll of a sudden, hard to know but ill be interested in doctors report

it was this coming thursday so would have been fascinating to watch. I'm super gutted i cant watch now

i personally thought Joseph would win. when his mind is aggressive he blows people away. i suspect hughie would got him fired up and disrespected him like dimitrenko did

It is with our deepest regret that we have to announce that the WBO World Heavyweight Championship between the Champion, Joseph Parker, and mandatory challenger, Hughie Fury, scheduled for Saturday 6th May 2017 in Auckland, New Zealand, has been postponed.
Hughie has been declared medically unfit to box following a medical assessment. He has suffered an injury to his lower back which has been a serious issue for the last 3 weeks that has left him unable to train to his full capacity.
Despite receiving intense physiotherapy treatment and his desire to fight for the WBO World title, after seeing his physiotherapist last Friday he has been advised to rest for 3-4 weeks before resuming training.
Understandably, Hughie is devastated by the injury which has temporarily halted his dream of fighting for the World Heavyweight Title, but the fight will be rescheduled and a new date will be announced shortly.
Hughie and Team Fury wish to express their sincerest apologies to Joseph Parker, the WBO, the fans and public in New Zealand and to all the boxing fans around the world who had been looking forward to the highly anticipated fight.
Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions will be making a further detailed statement shortly.
