Quote:The Fury camp say they are working on the presumption the fight is in New Zealand and have indicated that disgraced former champion Tyson Fury, Hughie's cousin, will come down under to provide training and ringside support.

Yessss, bring the circus to town! I'll be interested to see if Tyson involves himself in the promotional bits and trolls Parker. Jopseph has had a fairly easy run so far in terms of people trying to get under his skin.
Sounds exciting with Tyson here.
A world heavyweight title shot next for Tony Bellew? Hearn says he could bring Parker or Wilder to the UK “without any shadow of a doubt”

James Slater - March 5, 2017 12 Comments

Whatever he decides to do next, it has to be agreed how Tony Bellew, the fighter all of British boxing is talking about right now, has had some great career. Bellew shocked the odds in winning the WBC cruiserweight title against Ilunga Makabu last year, while last night, in the most incredible fight of 2017 so far, Bellew stunned the sport with his wild and crazy win over David Haye.

People will be talking about last night’s fight for some time, yet already fans are asking what move “Bomber” will make next. Retirement, on the back of his biggest win and payday, could be a tempting option for the 34 year-old, but it’s also possible – believe it or not – that Bellew could get a shot at one of the world heavyweight belts.

Eddie Hearn, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo, said that while he will not look to put Bellew in with either Anthony Joshua or Wladimir Klitschko, he does feel a fight can be made for Bellew to challenge either WBC king Deontay Wilder or WBO champ Joseph Parker. It’s more than likely that fans’ first reaction to such a notion will be one of disbelief and cynicism; after all, Wilder, at 6’7” would dwarf Bellew and out-weigh him by a huge margin.

But Hearn says he believes his fighter has “earned his shot at the heavyweight championship of the world.”

“Do you want to go back to cruiserweight to fight the winner of [Marco] Huck and [Mairis] Breidis or do you want to fight Deontay Wilder or Joseph Parker,” Hearn asked Bellew. “I could bring Parker or Wilder to the UK to fight Tony Bellew without any shadow of a doubt. Wilder is making $1 to $1.5 million a fight. The numbers that this fight did were huge, just huge.”

Okay, let’s not get carried away. Bellew scored a great upset win over a bigger, naturally stronger man in proven heavyweight Haye, but were it not for the former WBA heavyweight champ’s Achilles injury, who knows who would have won. And Wilder, as powerful, as tall and as long as he is reach-wise, would surely be a step too far for Bellew, right? Then again, write Bellew off at your peril.

He doesn’t know himself how he keeps doing it, but Tony Bellew really is a miracle man of the sport. Of course he’d be a huge underdog if he fought Wilder, but since when has that bothered the warrior from Liverpool!

Certainly, Bellew has plenty of options right now. Just now on Sky Sports, Bellew’s trainer Dave Coldwell said he honestly has no idea what’s next for his fighter. Coldwell did say, though, that in his opinion Joseph Parker is “the weak link” as far as the reigning heavyweight champions go. If he gets past Hughie Fury in May, might Parker wind up defending his belt against another British fighter in his second defence?
FURY'S TALK ON THE WILD SIDE Hughie Fury warns world heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder he’s coming for him after he dethrones Joseph Parker

Brit feels the American superstar is ignoring him - and wants to teach the Bronze Bomber the ultimate lesson

Fury challenges the power-punching Kiwi on May 6 in Auckland and is looking to cause a huge upset by taking the crown off Parker in his first title defence.

Hughie Fury is desperate to claim the title off Joseph Parker
Parker went to watch American superstar Wilder’s fight against Gerald Washington in Alabama last month when the Bronze Bomber retained his WBC crown in five rounds, taking his unbeaten record to a sensational 37 knockouts in 38 fights.

After the fight, Wilder had talks with Parker and told him to take care of business against Manchester’s Fury so they can meet in a huge unification clash with the WBC and WBO belts on the line.

But mandatory challenger Fury insists he will make Parker pay for taking him for granted.

And he plans to throw a massive spanner into the works by grabbing the WBO title to set up his own clash with Wilder.

Fury, cousin of former world champion Tyson Fury, said: “It’s basic ignorance that Parker is overlooking me and already hatching a plan to fight Wilder next.

“But he’ll find out painfully he counted his chickens before they’ve hatched.

“In fact, let them overlook me because when I do defeat Parker, he’ll be the one who has badly underestimated me when he sees me with the world-title belt around my waist.

“Then Wilder must come to me to negotiate a unification fight.

“I’m happy going under the radar and going into the fight as the underdog because then when I cause the upset it will send shock waves around the world.

“There’s no way I’m underestimating Parker and I’m treating him with the respect he deserves as a world champion.

“But come fight night that goes out of the window and I’m going all out to tear that title from him in front of his own countrymen.”

And Fury could also challenge another unbeaten heavyweight world champ Anthony Joshua, who holds the IBF crown. But first he must come through against Parker, while AJ has a big fight night against Wladimir Klitschko on April 29.

Unbeaten Fury, 22, will be challenging Parker for one of the world titles his older cousin Tyson won when he beat Klitschko in November 2015 in Germany.

Tyson, 28, was forced to vacate his crown last year due to health reasons.

But Hughie has been inspired by what he achieved abroad against all the odds.

And Fury hopes to emulate Tyson’s feat against Parker in New Zealand.

He said: “I was there when Tyson won that world title fair and square in Germany against Klitschko and defeated the recognised best of the division the hard way in the man’s own backyard.

“So when Tyson gave the belt back voluntarily it was felt by the whole family.

“To me, he is still the world champion, the lineal champion, the man who beat the man.

Deontaye Wilder is in the sights of Hughie Fury - if the Brit beats Parker
“Everybody has rushed to try and pick up a world title, Parker now has the WBO belt and I see it as my duty to retrieve it and bring it back home to the family,

“Tyson showed that it can be done, to go abroad and win the world title and now I want to follow his example and do it on the other side of the world.”

The hope is that Tyson Fury will restart his career soon so that the Furyfamily can do something similar to the brothers Wladimir and Vitali who ruled the heavyweight division for a decade.

Promoter Frank Warren moved heaven and earth to try to get Fury’s bout with Parker staged in the UK but the New Zealander’s people bid £3million to stage the bout in Auckland.
Hughies gonna make Parker pay for taking him for granted ... by taking him for granted

He didnt move anything hes a shot promoter.

You hear eddie hearn last night "i can definatley get parker or wilder over here". Not "theres a good chance" no he KNOWS he can table the money for it easily.

Hearn is uk boxing right now, warren needs to step up because hes becoming irrelevant
So he won't be coming to NZ if that's the date Sad

He looks massively out of shape from the last few pictures I've seen. David Tua levels of weight gain. Does he still care enough to train the house down?
He needs to come back against nobody better than domestic level. That weight needs to come off over 2 camps, get 15-20lbs off in one camp, then the rest in the next one. You cant lose like 50lbs and fight elite opposition.
