Joseph Parker's management want to fight winner of Joshua v Klitschko to unify belts

Joseph Parker could attend the Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko IBF heavyweight fight in London in April to call out the winner.

The Kiwi WBO heavyweight world boxing champion and his management are considering a massive unification fight against Joshua or Klitschko in London next August.

"Joe could be [at Joshua v Klitschko] to call out the winner for a mega-fight at Wembley in the late summer to unify the belts," Duco Events director David Higgins told The Express.

"That's what we want – to unify the belts and we are willing to lose trying. If the other belt holders shared our views it would fix the heavyweight division.

"Any heavyweight worth their salt should be looking to unify the division and hold all the belts. When the belts aren't unified, the public are confused about who is the champion."

Higgins added that the Klitschko brothers, Vitali and Wladimir, will never have a legacy that an undisputed champion has, because they refused to fight each other and unify the belts.

"Take Lennox Lewis for example or Muhammad Ali, the Klitschkos never really got to that top level, in my opinion, because they didn't become undisputed.

"It sort of hurt the sport at bit for 15 or so years, but it's different now because the belt holders are hungry and willing to take the risk."

In the meantime, the WBO had initially been expected to order Parker to fight David Haye, but the Brit will instead face Tony Bellew in March.

Higgins is now insure who Parker's mandatory challenger will be, but does not want to rule anything out.

"I would hope by middle of January we will have a better idea which way we are heading," Higgins said.

Joshua's and Klitschko's much anticipated fight for the IBF heavyweight belt is scheduled for April 29.

Just saw Wilder/Szpilka again.  Wilder is fast, awkward, and has power.  But like Parker, his boxing skills defensively aren't very good.  I could see Parker's speed bothering him.  Wilder will be facing his second Pole in his next fight.  He needs to be a man about it and face a real Pole, Izu.
Tyson Fury finally congratulates Joseph Parker for winning his WBO belt as his cousin Hughie comes on Kiwi's radar

Trouble British heavyweight Tyson Fury seems to be having trouble working out who is No 1 in the various boxing organisations.

Tsyon Fury has finally and bizarrely acknowledged Joseph Parker's title as WBO heavyweight champion.

The belt was vacated by Fury as he battled drug and mental health issues.

New Zealand's Parker stepped up to beat Mexican Andy Ruiz on December 10 in Auckland, winning the title in a tight majority points decision.

The reality appears ot have only just dawned on Fury who tweeted out his approval to Parker on Thursday.

Fury and Parker have been friends on social media for some time which added bemusement to Fury's earlier tweet about the current state of the division when he tweeted on December 10 that "bums" and his belts.

Perhaps Fury's softening stance is linked to the growing speculation that his younger cousin Hughie Fury will be fighting Parker for the WBO belt.

The prospect of that happening grew stronger on Thursday when it was confirmed that Deontay Wilder, another option for Hughie Fury, would defend his WBC belt against Andrzej Wawrzyk in the United States on February 25.

And Hughie Fury's promoter Frank Warren claimed that his fighter had now been officially confirmed as the mandatory challenger for the WBO belt after David Haye ducked away from that role to fight fellow Brit Tony Bellew.

"Hughie has been told by Frank Warren he's now mandatory with the WBO. Frank has been negotiating and trying to bring the fight with Joseph Parker here in the UK," Fury's father and trainer Peter told WorldBoxingNews.

"Hughie is currently working over the Christmas period in France and is ready to make his mark in 2017. We will accept the fight with Parker or any other world title fight.

"We are looking to make the fight for April if it can be done."

The only sticking point for the fight appears to be the location.

Parker's handlers at Duco Events are eager for the fight to be in New Zealand or Samoa while Warren wants it held in Britain.

Duco are eager for Parker's profile to build in Britain so it appears to be a win-win situation for them whichever way the fight venue falls.

They are also eager for unbeaten 24-year-old Parker to get involved in unification bouts this year. They have targeted Wilder and are also eager to be in the mix after Anthony Joshua defends his IBF belt against former champion Wladimir Klitschko in London next April, a fight that will also have the WBA title up for grabs.

Thanks NakiFan. Good interview about Wilder. Looks like if Parker can get past his next fight, he'll get AJ or Wilder to unify.
Too different ways to get a fight with a world champ:

Hughie's father says Parker is the best.
Miller says Parker is a bum.
Apparently Wilder is keen http://i.stuff.co.nz/sport/other-sports/88063646/american-heavyweight-deontay-wilder-keen-on-unification-fight-with-joseph-parker

Who would be the favorite? I'd assume Wilder would be the favorite. More experience massive reach and octopus arms
