If it wasn't for DUCO and KB, Parker would be literally nowhere.

This is a very obvious statement. But haters will hate.
This is just more evidence again that Parker needs to get the hell away from DUCO and all their bullshit and crap. I have also thought for sometime now that KB is over training JP. Parker is a nice humble young man but perhaps he is guilty of trying to please everyone ? He needs to start taking more control and doing what works for him and what is right for him instead of doing what his idiot promoters want. I truely believe that we won't see the best JP until he cuts ties with DUCO and KB.

I hope they fine tune it, and ffs dial back the amount of bag work, that can't be good on a kid that complains with sore shoulders and elbows. Leave the big solid punches for the face and body of the sparring partners and the ultimate opponent.

I think that is why Parker came out and said what he said about things needing to change. I think he's growing up. Before, he needed Duco and KB, as I don't think he would have made it this far. I'd include Stu Duncan in that group. He just wasn't that good, and was matched well and fought in NZ. Now, I don't know. I think part of the re-assessment happened with that article.

I do agree.

The thing is, Parker isn't that marketable outside of NZ. He is similar to luis ortiz or someone of that nature in terms of worldwide appeal.

He's not a talker which doesn't help.

Down here he has a good nationalistic fanbase and Duco  (in spite if imo fleecing the nz public) have done very well to get him a vacant strap

Down here JP is a star with a big following.

Worldwide he isn't.  And tbh i don't see that ever changing. He's never going to be a ppv seller in UK usa or Europe.

If he leaves Duco he won't get vip treatment.

CCheck out how guys like the saurlands treat their heavyweights. They try to get bang for buck and don't care if their guy gets wasted. That'd be JP under a foreign promoter.
Very true, Infern0. He's gotten too close to Duco and KB, and I think he has a hard time saying no to them. When your promoter is distracting you with marketing engagements, and your trainer wears you out physically, it's time to change. Either a radical change in their approaches or a new team.

Parker would have market value in the UK if he fought AJ, or in the US if he fought Wilder, but that's about it outside NZ. Your analogy with Ortiz is about right.
Unfortunately for fighters changimg teams, trainers and promoters always happens when a loss happens or you become stale. I hope they refresh jo with new sparring partners and a new trainer, along side KB of course. I'm not sure what JP needs but a good break and fresh training regime always helps.
He's getting a good 2 month break, and the team is good at changing sparring partners. Izu didn't even spar with him leading up to Ruiz as he was a different type of fighter. I just don't see how Duco and KB could not know how what they do affects Joe.
Hughie Fury's trainer and father Peter Fury confident of getting Joseph Parker fight in UK

Hughie Fury's trainer and father believes Joseph Parker is the best heavyweight boxer in the world and is confident of landing their potential bout in the United Kingdom.

The cousin of former unified champion Tyson Fury, Hughie Fury is being touted as the front-runner for Kiwi fighter Parker's first defence of the WBO title he won with a majority points decision over Andy Ruiz Jr in Auckland on December 10.

With WBC champion Deontay Wilder confirmed this week for a fight against a Polish opponent in February, 22-year-old Englishman Hughie Fury, countryman David Price and American Jarrell Miller are all said to be in the running to be Parker's next opponent.

WBO world champion Joseph Parker is still lining up his first title defence.

Duco Events boss David Higgins said this week they are yet to receive confirmation from the WBO that Hughie Fury was the mandatory challenger after No 1 contender David Haye opted for another bout against Tony Bellew in March.

Hughie Fury has a 20-0 record as a professional.

While acknowledging the WBO could not take the mandatory position off Haye until that fight actually happened, Peter Fury told 4C Sports Media his son had effectively claimed the mantle.

He added the WBO had stated the fight against Parker had to happen "within 120 days" and also commented on where the fight may take place.

"We'd rather fight here because I'm not keen on taking Hughie over to New Zealand. I'd be a bit concerned with the judging over there.

"I want things to be absolutely fair and let both men fight with no advantage to either man."

Higgins has stated their preference for the bout to be held in New Zealand or Samoa but has not ruled out fighting in Britain.

Peter Fury seemed to believe there was a better than equal chance that would happen.

"We're quietly confident. We've got some good backers here and we're confident the fight can be made in the UK.

"I don't think Team Parker has a problem coming to the UK. I'm sure if the money is right they would."

While Hughie Fury has a professional record of 20-0, his readiness for a world title fight has been questioned by some who placed 22-0 Parker as a strong favourite.

Peter Fury, though, disputed those claims and said not only was his son "as ready as he is ever going to be", he was primed to "explode on the world scene".

He also, though, gave a glowing appraisal of Parker.

"I've heard people comment about Parker's fight with Andy Ruiz Jr and trying to pick holes in it ... but [Parker] is probably the best heavyweight at the moment because Andy Ruiz Jr is a serious talent," Peter Fury told 4C Sports Media.

"That was a good fight and a good fight for Parker, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hughie is in for a very, very serious test and if Hughie can come through Parker he will stamp his mark as one of, if not the best heavyweight in the world."

Peter Fury also updated the situation with nephew Tyson, who relinquished the WBO, WBA and IBF belts after suffering from drug-related and mental health issues in the wake of his title win over Wladimir Klitschko.

Tyson Fury was training every day with his father and brother and would be back in the ring around April or May next year, Peter Fury said.

The latter added his nephew was coming back to get the belts and expected him to be in contention for a world title again late in 2017 or early in 2018.
