Usyk-Chisora Final Press Conference

Former undisputed cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk and fan favorite Derek Chisora clash in a heavyweight bout Saturday night on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US.

Oleksandr Usyk: “There will be no war. I bring peace – pure, clean boxing. He will definitely want to hurt me badly but I won’t stand in front of him. I don’t know why everyone is talking about a test at Heavyweight because, all of my life, I have been tested by Heavyweights. In the World Series of Boxing I was a Heavyweight – people wanted to hurt me but didn’t manage to. If the king of animals would be considered according to the size, then it would be elephant, not the lion. An elephant is a friend of the mouse!”

Derek Chisora: “People tell me that I hold the key to the rich and famous! You shall not pass! He will try to box. I can’t box. It will be a shoot-out. When I hit him, he’ll be hit, there is nowhere to hide. I need a fair referee. I want this fight to be fair. I don’t want to be dancing or wrestling. I want both of us to work fairly. I have to keep marching forwards. He will try to wrong-foot me but I’m ready. People will be surprised.”

Povetkin tests positive for COVID-19

Whyte rematch new target date January 30, 2021
Alexander Povetkin has been forced to withdraw from his Saturday November 21 contest with Dillian Whyte due to testing positive for COVID-19. The pair were due to rematch at The SSE Arena, Wembley, live on Sky Sports Box Office but will now face each other on a later date to be confirmed soon.
Further details on the November 21 show will follow shortly.
“Firstly we want to wish Alexander Povetkin a speedy recovery,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “This is a challenging time for shows. There will be lots of ups and downs over the next few months. We look forward to the fight happening in late January.”

Hrgovic: Booker will not hear the final bell

Unbeaten heavyweight Filip Hrgovic (11-0, 9 KOs) has vowed he’ll be the first man to stop 39-year-old Rydell Booker (26-3, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, live on DAZN in the USA and RTL in Croatia.

“He will not hear the final bell,” proclaimed Hrgovic. “I want to get this job done early, and I believe I can do that. I hit harder than Kubrat Pulev, I move faster than him. I believe Rydell had some successes against Pulev, against me he’ll have none. I have sparred with him before, but this won’t be like sparring. The heavyweight division is very exciting right now, with a lot of big names – I am here to come out on top of those names.”

Yoka-Hammer set for Nov 27

Unbeaten Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist Tony Yoka (8-0, 7 KOs) will return against Christian Hammer (25-6, 15 KOs) on November 27 in Nantes, France. Hammer was slated to face David Allen in the UK on October 31, was forced out due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Christian Hammer: “Yoka is a strong boxer, but I’ve been in the ring with completely different calibers. I want to work my way up again with a road win and show that you have to reckon with me in 2020 also.”

Hrgovic seems to have plenty of support - would be nice to see him fight a top 10 live fighter- seems pretty protected so far

Unbeaten IBF #6, WBC #9, WBO #14 heavyweight Filip Hrgovic (12-0, 10 KOs) stopped Rydell Booker (26-4, 13 KOs) in round five. Hrgovic teed off on Booker the whole fight and the referee finally waved it off. Time was :43. Hrgovic scored a knockdown in round two.

Unbeaten WBO #11, IBF #15 heavyweight Zhilei Zhang (22-0, 19 KOs) won by fourth round KO over Devin Vargas (22-7, 9 KOs). A straight left hand put Vargas down for the count. Time was :49.
