Joyce-Wallisch on ESPN+ Saturday

Heavyweight contender Joe Joyce (10-0, 9 KOs), who is on track for a super fight against fellow undefeated British heavyweight Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois, will take on the battle-hardened Michael Wallisch (20-3, 13 KOs) in the 10-round main event Saturday from BT Sport Studio in London.

Joyce-Wallisch will headline an afternoon of boxing streaming on ESPN+ beginning at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.

Joyce crushes Wallisch, DuBois showdown next

Unbeaten WBC #11 heavyweight “Juggernaut” Joe Joyce (11-0, 10 KOs) scored a one-sided third round KO against Michael Wallisch (20-4, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at BT Sport Studio in London. It was pretty much one-way traffic for 100:1 favorite Joyce, who came in at a career high 270 pounds. He dropped Wallisch with a barrage of punches in round two, then finished him in round three with two more knockdowns. Time was :57.

Joyce, who is either 34 or 35 depending on who you talk to, will now move ahead to a showdown with domestic rival Daniel Dubois later in the year.

In a clash of unbeaten super bantamweights, Chris Bourke (8-0, 5 KOs) outpointed Ramez Mahmood (11-1, 2 KOs) over ten in a bout for the vacant BBBofC Southern Area title. The score was 96-94.

Unbeaten middleweight Denzel “Too Sharp” Bentley (13-0, 11 KOs) was victorious when Mick Hall (15-3, 2 KOs) couldn’t continue after round six.

Unbeaten super featherweight Louie Lynn (7-0, 6 KOs) stopped Monty Ogilvie (9-1, 1 KO) in round two.

Unbeaten welterweight Henry Turner (3-0, 0 KOs) topped Chris Adaway (10-67-4, 1 KO) over four 40-35.

Trevor Bryan To Make First Defence Of His Interim WBA Heavyweight Belt Against Christopher Lovejoy

A Don King comeback? A Trevor Bryan comeback?

Unbeaten heavyweight Trevor Bryan, who won some sort of version of the WBA heavyweight title with an October 2018 stoppage win over cruiserweight B.J Flores, has been inactive since. While his promoter, the “Only In America Man” has also been inactive, semi-retired as of late. Both will return on September 26th.

It’s been reported by Boxing Junkie and TMZ Sports how King will promote a fight between Bryan, 20-0(14) and Lovejoy, 19-0(19) in an attempt to “bring boxing back into the living rooms.” The fight (no venue yet announced) will go out live on the Impact Network (currently in 88 million homes) and King is excited about it.

“I’m bringing some life back into the business again for the love of the people,” 88 year old King told Boxing Junkie. “I’m bringing back a heavyweight title fight, giving the people what they want. The country is divided. I want to show that working together works. I dedicate this fight to coming together.”

So what kind of a fight can we expect? It’s tough to say, really. Bryan is tall, athletic and he is unbeaten. But the 30 year old (31 in August) has been hopelessly inactive and, to top it off, the Flores fight aside, Bryan hasn’t fought anyone of note. Lovejoy’s credentials are even less solid. The big guy (6’5,” an inch taller than Bryan) has won 19 in a row all by KO but the 36 year old has fought one, that’s right ONE, fighter who had a winning record at the time.

Lovejoy can punch, at least at a certain level, and he has been more active than Bryan, having won a fight this January. But how Lovejoy has got himself any kind of “world” title shot is truly a mystery. Who knows, we might see a good action fight on September 26, with both guys unloading bombs, but no fan in his or her right mind will call the winner a heavyweight champion.

Still, King is doing a great job of hyping the fight.

“It’s an irresistible force versus an immovable object,” King said of the upcoming fight. King added how the winner could face Manuel Charr (yet another claimant of a version of the WBA heavyweight title).

Whyte: I'm Expecting Best Povetkin In Long Time; He Knows What's At Stake

Alexander Povetkin is 40 years old and has gone 1-1-1 in his past three fights.

Dillian Whyte still considers the former WBA heavyweight champion a very dangerous opponent. Whyte figures Povetkin realizes their fight for Whyte’s WBC interim championship is essentially his last chance to become a two-time champion and make substantially more money before he retires.

Promoter Eddie Hearn announced Friday that London’s Whyte (27-1, 18 KOs) and Russia’s Povetkin (35-2-1, 24 KOs) will fight August 22 on the grounds of Matchroom Boxing’s headquarters in Brentwood, England. Whyte-Povetkin, which was postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will headline a Sky Sports Box Office pay-per-view show that night.

If Povetkin upsets Whyte, he’ll win Whyte’s interim title and assume Whyte’s position as the mandatory challenger for WBC champion Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs).

“I’m expecting the best Povetkin there’s been in a long time because this is his last [chance],” Whyte told Sky Sports in an interview that was streamed Friday on the British network’s YouTube channel. “If he loses this fight, it’s like, where does he go from there? Does he go and be a gatekeeper? Does he go and get beat up by these younger guys? Or does he try and make a comeback? You know what I mean? But I think he knows what’s at stake. He beats me, he could be fighting for a world title in his next fight. So, you know, I’m expecting the best Alexander Povetkin.

“You know, I’m sure, even though there’s a lockdown, he’s been training. He’s a big enough sports star [in Russia] to still get access to facilities or might have a home gym or whatever. So, you know, in Russia they’re tough. They’ll go in the mountain and train in the mountain, with logs and sticks and whatever they can find. So, you know, I’m expecting the best Povetkin in a long time.”

Povetkin fought to a 12-round split draw with American Michael Hunter (18-1-1, 12 KOs) in his last fight, which was part of the Anthony Joshua-Andy Ruiz undercard December 7 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. Whyte beat Poland’s Mariusz Wach (36-6, 19 KOs) by unanimous decision in a 10-rounder on that same undercard.

The 32-year-old Whyte has been training in Portugal for three months because he initially thought he would face Povetkin on July 4, once their May 2 fight was postponed. Whyte and Povetkin were supposed to fight at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, but their bout was moved to what Hearn has dubbed “Matchroom Square Garden” because fans cannot attend sporting events in the United Kingdom due to coronavirus restrictions.

He is accurate and relentless though Die.
If you don't take him out in first 3-4 you better not look for rest periods or gas.
Do think Dubois bombs him out early as you said due to being easy to hit.
But still a possible banana skin for DD.
JP v JJ would be interesting as JP does take rounds off.. but should be able to land with superior handspeed
