Takam-Lewis Final Press Conference

WBO #13 rated heavyweight contender Carlos Takam (36-5-1, 28 KOs) and Craig Lewis (14-3-1, 7 KOs) faced off at the official press-conference ahead of Star Boxing’s “Catskills Clash II” at Resorts World Catskills, in Monticello, NY, taking place Saturday night.

Carlos Takam: “I want to thank Joe DeGuardia and Star Boxing for the opportunity Saturday. I am ready for the fight Saturday, I came here to win, so let’s go, lets box. I hope you come Saturday to watch this heavyweight fight.”
Craig Lewis: “I took this fight on short notice, and the thing is, I have to stay ready. You never know when you get the opportunity to fight a top fighter. I am here to showcase my skills. I appreciate the promotion, I appreciate everyone here, and I am ready to show you my skills Saturday night.”

Tyson Fury wins in bloodbath with Otto Wallin

Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20 KOs) scored a bloody twelve round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Otto Wallin (20-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Fury suffered a bad cut over the right eye in round three from a punch. Fury fought through the blood and broke down Wallin as the fight progressed. Fury’s eye was a mess, but he punished Wallin down the stretch. 30:1 underdog Wallin rocked Fury in the final round, but Fury survived to the final bell. Scores were 116-112, 117-111, 118-110.

The cut was BAD. Seemed to really impact Fury too. Was clearly hurting him in the corner.

Wallin could have been a bit of a underdog hero here, but started using nasty tactics, getting his head inline with the cut, headlocks, even reaching through a ref break to rub his glove on Furys cut eye.

What a mess it all turned out to be. Fury seemed out of sorts for most of the fight. Bit of desperation crept in later on and he was trying to knock Wallin out, Fury put everything behind his shots for a couple of rounds there and only hurt this guy occasionally. I think he gassed in the 12th round, hence getting stiffened up.

Some sensationalist views going around, looked to me like Fury got a bit complacent, then a very nasty cut which is just bad luck made it a harder fight than it should have been.

It always happens when you fight too many easy touches, one of them will go wrong, Fury never looked in any real danger to me.
