Joseph Parker
Welcome UK Fight Fan. Please, by all means, post, post, post. You have a friend in Sham, who's in love with AJ. I was a bit worried about him after Klit lost, as they've had a long bromance. But I think AJ is much younger for Sham.

But for the life of me, I don't see how an Irishman fell in love with an English fighter over his fellow countryman in Parker.

I actually disagree with this to some degree. Yes AJ has faced four undefeated fighters, but they were all unproven fighters. We don't actually know how good Whyte is, because he hasn't beaten anyone at a proven level. Charles Martin only had one half decent win and that fight ended very early because the guy had an injury. Gary Cornish is trash, and Brezeale isn't much better. Parker could beat 20 undefeated fighters in a row, but if they are trash and simply have padded records, does it mean anything?

I would much rather Parker fight proven fighters at a certain level (i.e. top 20), then take on a solid prospect like AJ. Takam was a great fight. We saw the areas he needs to work on, and he got in 12 rounds with a tough opponent. Because of that Takam win, Parker becomes top 10 (just). It really is difficult to know where to place Joshua, he looks great to the eye, but he is so untested for a heavyweight 'champ' it's not funny.

Martin, Brezeale and Whyte all had records going into the Joshua fight that werent too dissimilar to Parkers before he fought Takam.  I couldn't honestly say that before Parker fought Takam that he had a better class of opponent on his resume than Whyte, Martin and Brezeale.  So we know they were of a certain level. Actually Whyte and Parker have 3 common opponents and Whyte finished them all before Parker. Takam was a good fight, a good opponent.  But even he is 35.  All the others before that have been 100 years old or garbage or both. I'm surprised, like tm, that Parker's team have not put him in with at least one undefeated young fighter and that he's not fought on a big undercard in US or UK.  Just to add, from my point, the Takam fight exposed Parker quite alot.  In an attacking sense, Parker has some great assets and good skills but defensively I couldn't see a difference between him, Whyte, Brezeale or Martin.  The amount of times Parker leaned straight back against the ropes with his hands down was shocking.

Great analysis UK FIGHT FAN. I still think an angry Dyllian Whyte would give Jo nightmares. Takam had it but let it go.

Cheers mate.  We'll see what Dillian Whyte becomes but I think he has alot of potential despite the AJ fight.  I'm in agreement that he would cause Parker alot of problems, if fully fit and motivated.

Thanks for the welcome die.  Haha I can see the similarities between Klit and AJ, it would be an easy transition to make as a fan of Klit.  Long, rangy, powerful, European style.  I'll be at the Manchester Arena for the rematch with Fury, but I'll be cheering for my fellow Mancunian, so me and Sham might not have that in common!

Are you a Kiwi in Parker's corner?

I've said before of Parker and Dillian Whyte fought I don't know who would win. Whyte would be the most aggressive fighter Joe has fought, he's bigger than Joe, has a chin and power and is the type of guy who makes fights messy affairs. Joe could outbox him or her could get dragged into a street fight and taken out.

I rate dillian and he has fought a few of jo opposition, must say he fought them well after Jo and blasted them out Alot quicker but.... Jo fought them early on and has progressed since then. What I'm getting at is jo is progressing Alot faster than Dillian, even tho the body snatched would give jo some trouble I would confidently put it at 70/30 to parker, giving Dillan the punches chance. As for AJ opponents it's been pretty good, AJ has been in with some big men, breazeale, Martin (south paw), the highlander lol. He has the experience against men taller and this will help him again the other belt holders. Parker has only been in with Mehan, Nacimento and Daniel Martz wich is pretty bad. AJ is another level than the Takam fight but a total different style. Can't wait 60/40 leaning towards AJ but hoping for Parker.

I'd favour Parker over Whyte.  I have it closer than yourself and wouldn't be surprised if Whyte won.  But I probably rate Whyte higher than the normal boxing fan.  He was a professional two time British kickboxing champion and one time European champion before he was 20.  I know it's not boxing but the guy knows how to fight.  I'm leaning towards and hoping for an AJ win but I'd be cheering for Parker against any non brit.

What do any of you guys think about JP's speed? And specifically his hand speed.  I think he's got the fastest hands out of the top 20 heavyweights, but I also think he sacrifices his technique abit for speed.

Dave Allen vs Dillian Whyte . There's your reality check.

Imagine Butterbean taking JP the distance , just ridiculous.

No way in a month of Sundays Whyte beats Parker.

It puts the hype over AJ into better perspective too.

Let's see AJ fight someone legitimately top 20 before hailing him As the new messiah?

Yeah, his hands are fast. And he has power. But his problem is not speed and power, but his defense and novice mistakes he makes. If he doesn't correct it against Dimitrenko, he's gonna get KO'd. So far, his chin and offense has saved him.
