RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 09-25-2018 (09-25-2018, 11:37 AM)diehard Wrote: Markk, you're more optimistic than me about the US market. Wilder can't draw. How did GGG vs Canelo go? Certainly nothing like AJ and Wembley. I'm not too sure, but before Hearn/AJ, how did the UK market do? I think if Wilder beats AJ, the US market will definitely come into play. Fury/Wilder/Joshua are to my mind the only 3 that are a serious threat to each other right now. There are some dangers on the horizon though. Here are my picks 1. Usyk. Slick, skilled, elite level talent. Size may prove an issue but he's got the skills to trouble anyone 2. Joe Joyce He's 6'6", an athlete who brings pressure and power and supposedly a great chin. He's a far superior version of Dominic Brezeale basically and could be a problem 3. Tony Yoka He's a bit raw but this guy has both size and great athleticism. If he continues to develop he has real potential in 2-3 years time 4. Daniel Dubois Size and power, supposedly gave a real hard time to Povetkin in sparring. He is a bit raw but it's very early days and he's doing great so far 5. Nathan Gorman He's visually unappealing but this guy has brilliant handspeed and very accurate combinations, he's a cousin of Tyson Fury RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 09-25-2018 (09-25-2018, 08:39 PM)bart Wrote: Dean lonergan wants JP v Mark Hunt ... RE: Joseph Parker - Boxingfan25 - 09-25-2018 A better and more appropriate fight would be Hunt v Gallen RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 09-25-2018 (09-25-2018, 10:58 PM)Boxingfan25 Wrote: A better and more appropriate fight would be Hunt v Gallen True RE: Joseph Parker - markk - 09-25-2018 (09-25-2018, 09:21 PM)diehard Wrote:(09-25-2018, 07:59 PM)markk Wrote:(09-25-2018, 11:37 AM)diehard Wrote: Markk, you're more optimistic than me about the US market. HBO not investing as much and seem to be in 5th place. . from my research its a race to win the streaming war and boxing seems to be the product they are using to win market share. boxing as a sport is having a huge injection because of it which is great news. PPV is dying in the traditional model. I think th uk is a one player market which is 25% of the US market. so just bigger dollars. In saying this eddie hearn seems to have the jump from a product point of view . RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 09-26-2018 From Stu, Joe's matchmaker: Hopefully we will have nailed an opponent sometime this week ... Lucas Browne isn't ready and would have been ideal .. A hit out before Xmas is what Joe wants .. then some of these guys can be considered next year on the path back into contention. For now it's one fight at a time .. I think if Wilder beats AJ, the US market will definitely come into play. People in the US just aren't buying, and a lot of it is down to a lack of heavyweight success in the last 20 years American audiences only tend to tune in once a fighter has already reached the top. They aren't interested in the journey. Mayweather resorted to a lot of trolling and stirring up of ethnic minorities to get his huge viewing base. Guys like crawford and spence are just too vanilla. They deep down arent convinced by Wilder but if he did beat Fury and AJ he would then become a massive, massive US star RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 09-27-2018 How did GGG/Canelo do with gate and PPV numbers? They were in Vegas I think??? RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 09-28-2018 (09-27-2018, 09:47 PM)diehard Wrote: How did GGG/Canelo do with gate and PPV numbers? They were in Vegas I think??? I think I read they did 1.1 on PPV which was down from the first fight. Interesting that Fury/Wilder is going to LA not Vegas. This means ticket prices are going to be a LOT less as they aren't getting the high rollers in and it's only around a 20k seat stadium. It'll be very interesting to see how this does as Wilder/Ortiz did 1.1 on FREE TV and chances of them getting a 1:1 conversion from free TV to a $100 ppv are miniscule. I think we are looking at 375k ppv being generous and a $3 mil gate So we are looking at $40m generated in a perfect world but of course you have to take half of that immediately out to the broadcaster, then take taxes and site fee etc. I think Fury and wilder come away with $10m each. Nice money but compare that to AJ and it's not even half. PLUS Fury and wilder can ONLY make that money vs each other, where AJ can make 2-3x that vs anyone This is where AJ vs the winner runs into trouble because Frank Warren has already said he wants 50/50 for Fury and that's just not going to happen. |
