But what if Hughie's team have spent all their money lubricating the ref and judges? This whole thing stinks

I am great with ref and judges if they are IMPARTIAL
But it can feel like a lack of trustworthiness that seems involved here, and I do not like it

Joseph Parker v Hughie Fury a 50-50 fight says David Haye
7 Sep, 2017 10:50am By: Patrick McKendry Joseph Parker's WBO heavyweight world title defence against Hughie Fury is a "50-50" fight, according to former champion David Haye. Parker will this weekend leave his Las Vegas base for London to acclimatise and prepare for the fight against Fury in Manchester on September 23 and will train mostly at Haye's gym. The pair struck up a friendship the last time Parker was in London, but the 36-year-old Haye, who has been out of action since March when he ruptured his Achilles in the defeat to Tony Bellew, believes the fight will go the distance. "Joseph Parker hasn't put a foot wrong as a professional and neither has Hughie Fury," Haye told boxing channel IFL TV. "I think it will be close. Although Joseph Parker is the champion, he's coming to foreign territory and if it goes to points then he might not get that much love from the judges. I know it shouldn't work that way but he's coming over here to fight on a foreign promoter's event. "I'm not sure if there's going to be a knockout... neither of the fighters have shown that they have weak chins. They've both shown they can go the distance. They're both young and fresh. "I think genuinely it's a 50-50 fight... if Parker can retain the title he'll probably look for a unification fight against Anthony Joshua - that's the big one. Likewise Hughie Fury, to have two world champions in a family [would be] an amazing feat for the Fury. "Whoever wins the fight - there will be some big fights next year... it's good for boxing having young, undefeated guys clashing with each other." Parker and his trainer Kevin Barry have told the Herald they want a knockout against the 22-year-old Fury in order to take the judges, who will be independently appointed, out of the equation. Accordingly, the 25-year-old has been working on his speed and mobility in order to pressure Fury from the outset following a below-par performance last time in the ring against former sparring partner Razvan Cojanu. Any mistakes from Fury, the cousin of former heavyweight champion, Tyson, will be quickly seized upon. Haye, now recovered from his Achilles problem, hopes to be in the ring in December, with a view to potentially taking on Joshua next year. A re-match with Bellew is a possibility, but Haye feels the negotiations with the Liverpudlian might prove to be too difficult to get another fight across the line. A popular and charismatic figure in London, Haye is a potential opponent for Parker next year too.

Boxing: Parker planning to unleash fury from the start
By: Patrick McKendry Sports writer Joseph Parker is planning to attack Hughie Fury from the first bell in his WBO heavyweight world title defence, an onslaught which the New Zealander and his team hope builds to a dramatic knockout victory. Parker leaves his Las Vegas base for London today to continue his preparations for the fight in Manchester in a fortnight. And, after seeing his 25-year-old charge complete his last 10-round sparring session, trainer Kevin Barry says the camp has been Parker's best in 12 months. A good start at the Manchester Arena in front of a partisan crowd in Fury's favour is crucial, Barry believes, adding if Parker gets it right, there's little chance of the 22-year-old Englishman staying with him. "We've probably been a little bit patient in the last two fights," Barry said in reference to Parker's wins over Razvan Cojanu and Andy Ruiz Jr. "We won't be seeing that in this fight. Everything we've trained to do during this camp is about letting the hands go. "Joe's the bigger-punching guy, physically he's more powerful than Hughie, he's battle tested, and we're going to be testing this guy's chin out very, very early in the fight. "If Fury wants to stay in the ring with Joe he's going to be doing a lot of moving. He's not going to stand there and trade punches with him because it will be a very quick fight if that's the case. I expect him to hit and run," said Barry. The Fury camp is expecting a fast and powerful start from Parker, with the fighter's father and trainer Peter saying in a recent interview: "[Hughie] is prepared for Parker to come on aggressive, he's prepared for Parker to come on and box, he's prepared for Parker to come and try to knock him out." The stakes could hardly be higher for Parker, who wants a dominant performance, and preferably a spectacular knockout, in order to boost his profile in the United Kingdom ahead of other, more lucrative fights there. Fellow heavyweight world title holders Anthony Joshua, and Englishman, and Deontay Wilder, an American, are also in Parker's sights but bouts against Brits Tony Bellew, David Haye and even Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora would boost the Kiwi's profile enormously leading to bigger pay days. |
