Joseph Parker
Lonergan is a bit of a blowhard, which works to get Parker noticed, but sometimes he sticks his foot in it.

I'm sure he was confident after talking with Bob Arum on their two fighters getting a shot. They do have some grounds to stand on, as the fight can be agreed upon pretty quick if the WBO are happy with it.

The reasoning is good, as the WBO would have a champ who could fight AJ or Klit for a partial unification. Plus, with Klit already fighting for the IBF and possibly the WBA title, he in effect has disqualified himself for a box off. It all comes down to how much influence Arum and Lonergan have when the WBO meet next week. It's in the WBO's best interest to make Parker/Ruiz a title fight, but hey, this is boxing. Heard Jimmy Smith on the Martin Devlin show saying that boxing is like a red light district, with deals to be made.

No box off for Parker:

WBO are thinking dollars. If parker wins he will hold alot of fights down here in nz. WBO don't want that. It's similar for ruiz who has a small fan base. Having Parker or Ruiz at the moment as there champ is small dollar Makin for a while

Jimmy Smith from Vegas on the Devlin show this morning on radio sport said there would be zero interest in the Parker/Ruiz fight in the US or Europe. In NZ, different story. But yes, remains to be seen how international it would go against a top fighter. My guess is that Parker would fight a few fights in England or Germany if he beat AJ.

Going out on a limb, but I don't see Ruiz/Parker happening.

Duco wouldn't be naive to think that they can continue holding big fights down here if Parker does win a WBO belt. They are perfectly situated in Las Vegas to fill the MGM and run with fights against the American heavies etc.

Parker wouldn't fill the MGM grand.

Wilder couldn't fill the MGM grand they have to give comps for any fights that aren't superstars

Parker as wbo champion if he wanted to fight on vegas would be at the 1800 seat buffalo bill casino and linedancing tavern.

If Parker wins the wbo and wants to make rreal money he will have to be a road warrior going to opponents hometowns.

Big announcement coming soon #TEAMPARKER

I'm thinking maybe they've decided to go the IBF route, if they are looking to announce before the WBO meeting has even taken place...

No, you're right. Parker needs to go to the UK and fight Price on the undercard and then AJ (if he wins) for mega $$$ in the UK. If he beats AJ, THEN he can fill the MGM with a fight against Wilder.
