Joseph Parker: I Back Myself To Beat Anyone, I'll Fight Anyone!

WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (23-0, 18 KOs), 24 years old, is hoping to get in the ring with the other beltholders in the division to unify all of the titles.
At the moment, Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) holds the WBA, IBO, IBF world titles and Deontay Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs) is the WBC champion.
Parker will return in September, when he heads to Manchester to face undefeated mandatory challenger Hughie Fury, who is the undefeated cousin of former world champion Tyson Fury.

Parker believes the upcoming contest, which takes place at the Manchester Arena in September 23, will help raise his profile in the division.
A big showcase on UK soil will certainly go a long way to building a potential 2018 showdown with Joshua, who right now is the biggest name in the heavyweight division.

“It’s alright. These other guys are fighting on that side of the world with all the exposure they get. New Zealand has got a small population to compare and for us to already have a world champion and now to start fighting, it’s a good step for us," Parker said to Sport 360.
“It’s great to be a world champion, to achieve that goal that I set at a young age, but now I want to go on to do more, to create my own legacy. People don’t know me, but that’s all right. Hopefully they will soon. I want to show skills, bring excitement, pressure, be the fighter that everyone will remember.

“This is my chance in the UK to show what I can do. And I believe things happen when they are supposed to happen. Like every other heavyweight fighter I want to unify the belts, it’s a goal for me. It’s going to give me the motivation to train harder and focus. Just because you win one title, that’s not enough."

Parker is very confident in his ability and is more than confident that he can topple both Joshua and Wilder - once he gets them the ring.
“I back myself to beat anyone. I don’t fear anyone and will fight anyone. The focus is of course on Hughie now and after that we will sit down and look to fight the other best fighters in the world," Parker said.

There have been a lot of excuses lately from the Parker camp as to why things have not gone so well in the ring.

I really hope this Fury fight shows a renewed aggression and opens up Parker's future in a big way.

He needs a statement.

I would rather see him fight a smart fight and not get caught up with trying to go after a Hughie KO.

Hughie is elusive and will counter Joe easy as pie.

Team fury have been relentless with their social media talking up Hughie as if he already the champ, they are trying to make Parker angry and would love for him to make a mistake on fight night and play into their game plan. Always the mind games with the Fury's.

Reminds me of when Tyson was relentless with his "he's too old/I'm big and young and going to knock him out" talk towards Wlad
Come fight night he danced and had no intention of knocking Wlad out - just schooled him with old school boxing. Took Wlad until the last round to realise he'd been played and it was too late.

Haye: Before You Criticize Parker, Take a Good Look at Joshua!

Former two division champion David Haye has a very high opinion of WBO heavyweight beltholder Joseph Parker.
Parker captured the vacant title last December when he pulled out a close twelve round decision over Andy Ruiz. The belt became vacant when Tyson Fury was unable to defend the strap due to his mental health issue.
On September 23, Parker will travel over to Manchester to make a mandatory defense against Hughie Fury, the cousin of Tyson Fury.

Haye is rolling out the red carpet for Parker in the UK. He's offered use his London gym to Parker, free of charge, to prepare for the Fury defense.
He also has offered to assist Parker with sparring partners, living accommodations and also to provide his own personal security team.
"In the space of five minutes, he [Haye] sort of covered everything down to security, so we're just thankful that he was sort of pointing us in the right direction and he's going to look after us when we come back," Parker said to Fairfax Media.
Haye is also shaking his head at the critics who are knocking down the level and fighting quality of Parker.
Before they throw verbal stones at Parker, Haye says those same critics should take a good look at WBA, IBO, IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
"[They] can't knock Joseph Parker for not beating a legitimate world champion for his title because all you have to do is look at the main man of the division Anthony Joshua. Who did he beat for his title? Charles Martin. Who did Charles Martin fight for the title? I can't remember," Haye siad.
"There was no real history to the title that Anthony Joshua fought for and the title he's just won, the WBA title which was vacant, he fought against Wladimir Klitschko, a very good Wladimir Klitschko, but let's not forget Wladimir Klitschko at that point was coming off a loss, a convincing loss and he hadn't been in the ring for over a year in a half. The people who are questioning Joseph Parker's credentials need to turn that 'all-knowing-light' on the other champions they're supporting."

Joseph Parker towers over Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas meet

Kiwi heavyweight Joseph Parker has met up with Floyd Mayweather while in Las Vegas.

As he prepares for the biggest fight of his boxing career, Joseph Parker has been rubbing shoulders with one of the greats - albeit with a height difference to negotiate.

The Kiwi heavyweight has been welcomed into the camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr, who is getting ready for a big fight of his own, against Mixed Martial Arts star Conor McGregor.

Mayweather quit boxing in September 2015, with a 49-0 record, but has come out of retirement to fight McGregor, who has a 21-3 MMA record and is notorious for his trash talk.

Vegas - 1 week down, 7 weeks to go ?? feeling like a champ #TeamParker

Mayweather was not the tallest man, though renowned for his reach across the various fly, light and welterweight classes in which he has fought. He was 173cm tall compared with Joseph Parker who measured in at 193cm.

Parker is one week into an eight-week training camp in Las Vegas, as he prepares to fight Hughie Fury in Manchester on September 23.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place in Auckland in May, but Fury withdrew just two weeks out, citing a back injury.

Fury is the mandatory challenger for Parker's WBO heavyweight title, which he won by defeating Mexican Andy Ruiz in Auckland last December.

Mayweather and McGregor are set to fight in Las Vegas on August 26.

Parker isn't the only heavyweight to have met with Mayweather recently.

Anthony Joshua, the Brit who is considered the king of the heavyweight division, paid a visit to Mayweather's gym last weekend.

Joshua's most recent fight was a win over Wladimir Klitschko in April, that meant he added the WBA and IBO titles to the IBF one he already held.

Two champs @FloydMayweather @joeboxerparker thanks for inviting us into your camp ✊?

Ticket sales for Parker - Fury are piss poor at the minute. Not sold out tier one yet according to the seating plan and tier 2 hasn't even opened. Can only be about 2k sold so far. Hopefully they announce a decent undercard and sales pick up. If not, I think it could be about 6-8k in a 20k arena which is ridiculous. Real possibility of the whole card getting pulled. Warren has a history of pulling poor selling cards.
