RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 05-04-2020 whtye calls everyone out calls them shit and everyone ducks him etc When someone wants to call him out to fight - he gets precious I would love to see this fight but I reckon Whyte has to lose first for it to become feasible for him RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-05-2020 Parker calling out Whyte some more. Well done: https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/combat-sports/121408487/joseph-parker-senses-dillian-whyte-getting-agitated-by-rematch-calls RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-08-2020 Plans for Joseph Parker to fight in New Zealand in August Duncan Johnstone Joseph Parker is keen to keep his winning run going as quickly as possible. Joseph Parker could return to action with a New Zealand fight in August in front of an exclusive live audience. Parker’s manager David Higgins has been working on the project in conjunction with the heavyweight’s British promoters Matchroom Boxing who want a debut show in New Zealand for the launch of streaming giant DAZN. There has been considerable talk of Parker fighting his Kiwi amateur rival Junior Fa. But Higgins said Fa’s terms continued to be “unrealistic in this environment” and it was more likely an Australian opponent would be lined up if a transTasman bubble was in place under coronavirus lockdown restrictions. Lucas Browne, who has longed for a fight against Parker, would be the prime target though unbeaten Queensland southpaw Demsey McKean was another option. Australian Lucas Browne could finally get a crack at Joseph Parker. With a gathering restricted to less than 100 under level 2, Higgins said there was the ability to give it an “exclusive feel” and the venue would reflect that. “It could be a grand lawn or the lobby of an ornate building ... something unique. But the international TV audience would be huge,” Higgins told Stuff. “These are unprecedented times that have turned the industry upside down. “You have a choice of sitting idle and riding it out or you think laterally at something that still works. “Safety is the most important thing and we would certainly respect the conditions in place. “Matchroom see it as a real possibility with New Zealand appearing ahead of the curve in the battle against Covid-19.” Higgins said Parker was “champing at the bit like a prized stallion” to get back in action after his impressive win against North American champion Shawndell Winters in Texas in March. Parker’s clever social media video efforts had kept his name at the forefront of sports fans during lockdown, something that would help the sell of the fight internationally. “If it can be done safely Joseph is all for it,” Higgins said. Parker’s trainer Kevin Barry and sparring partners and the opponent’s camp would all have to go through the quarantine process. Higgins is investigating the financial package. But having had to lay off staff he feels an “obligation to try to do something” to get his business back up and running. But it was equally important to try to keep Parker active as the 28-year-old former WBO champion enters his prime years for fighting. Higgins was looking for sponsorships and was also very keen to see the fight support the Rising Foundation, an organisation set up in South Auckland to help at-risk youth. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-09-2020 Joseph Parker Vs Lucas Browne Possible For August In New Zealand DAZN Debut May 8, 2020 by James Slater Joseph Parker, Lucas Browne - Browne, 29-2(25) is now 41 years of age and he hasn't fought since last November. Parker, 27-2(21) is 28 years old and he boxed in February of this year. It just seems as though Parker will be the faster, sharper, much younger and more ambitious man in this match-up, if it indeed goes ahead. It would no doubt be a big event out in New Zealand, and who knows, maybe Browne could surprise us with a spirited performance, but Parker is aiming to become heavyweight champ all over again. He will be in no mood to let Browne spoil his plans. Former WBO heavyweight champ Joseph Parker is likely to return to action in August, in his home country of New Zealand. The fight, possibly one with veteran Lucas Browne, will mark the launch of DAZN in New Zealand, so reports Newshub. While Browne is a pretty big name and a fighter with plenty of experience, there seems to be only one winner here. It’s not yet known what the live attendance will be for the fight. Will the lock down conditions forced by the coronavirus be over with by August? If not, suitable safety precautions will be taken, promoter Dave Higgins told Newshub. Currently in New Zealand gatherings of 100 people at the most are allowed. Parker holds that good win over Andy Ruiz, and wouldn’t it be quite interesting to see thee two former champions fight again in a return? Parker has also been involved in big fights (albeit losing ones) with Anthony Joshua (a dull affair) and Dillian Whyte (a thriller). With many fans on his side rooting for him, Parker remains a hot commodity in the heavyweight division. A stoppage win over Browne would be reasonably impressive. However, “Big Daddy,” who was at his best around four years or so ago, has been taken out by both Whyte and David Allen. Again, there seems to be only one winner in a fight between Parker and Browne; with Parker getting the stoppage victory. What say you? RE: Joseph Parker - African Monkey - 05-09-2020 Junior Fa v Lucas Browne would be a better Matchup with the winner facing Parker in an ideal world. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-09-2020 (05-09-2020, 06:29 PM)African Monkey Wrote: Junior Fa v Lucas Browne would be a better Matchup with the winner facing Parker in an ideal world. Now that's smart. How do you think Fa would go against Browne? Two sluggers. Much easier match-up for JP as he'd just outbox him. With Fa, it's who lands first with Browne. RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 05-09-2020 It would make sense but.... Parker needs a asap NZ fight Lucas Browne v Fa = no viable $$$ as a top billing RE: Joseph Parker - craigyid14 - 05-09-2020 Parker/Browne makes sense geographically but it's not a good fight, not when you see who all the others are fighting (each other). I can't work out if other fighters think that Parker is too risky for little reward or just not relevant, he needs Ruiz to start winning again, infact Ruiz would probably be the perfect opponent for him now. RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 05-09-2020 I think they see him as relevant as he is rated high so beating him and taking his ranking would be appealing. I just think many of the other ranked fighters were booked when JP was available, the lost opportunity of the Chisora fight and the down time lost - training camp then recovery etc cost JP time and $ A Kownacki (b4 his loss) Helenius Wach etc would have been ok but they took Winters- impressive win but against someone no one heard of. At least Browne is a known fighter and being an ozzie and a former WC it can be promoted down here. Then the next fight depends on the other soon to go fights.... who is available and needs the fight. If Whyte loses to AP he made then need JP for his ranking and so on RE: Joseph Parker - African Monkey - 05-10-2020 (05-09-2020, 09:24 PM)diehard Wrote:(05-09-2020, 06:29 PM)African Monkey Wrote: Junior Fa v Lucas Browne would be a better Matchup with the winner facing Parker in an ideal world. Fa beats Browne imo. Browne is beyond shot now, he can barely take a punch from most other HWs. I'd like to see some sort of tournament involving Parker, Browne, McKean and Fa where the winners and losers face off. Won't happen of course but not a hell of a lot can happen in these times with all the travel restrictions in place. |
