RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 06-05-2017 Bellew: I'll Be Back in November or December - I Prefer Parker Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs) is looking at three different options for his next fight - but says WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker is the option he would want most. The other two options include WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and former two division king David Haye. Bellew has been out of the ring since March, when he dropped his WBC cruiserweight belt for a move to the heavyweight division to secure a shocking eleven round stoppage over Haye at the O2 Arena in London. Bellew suffered hand injuries in the win over Haye, but says he should be fully recovered in time to make a fight in November or December. The problem right now with securing Parker is the WBO's mandatory obligation still hanging overhead with Hughie Fury. Parker vs. Fury was scheduled to take place last month, but Fury withdrew with a back injury. Parker instead won a lopsided decision over late-replacement Razvan Cojanu. There is still no date announced for the Fury defense - and the unbeaten British boxer still has an ongoing problem with drug testing agency UKAD - who claim the boxer tested positive for a banned substance in early 2015. Wilder has a mandatory obligation, with the World Boxing Council ordering him to make a mandatory defense against Bermane Stiverne. Wilder already dominated Stiverne over twelve rounds in January 2015 to capture the WBC belt. "Before the year is out, I'll be back in November or December. It's [Haye] or Parker. Wilder is still out there and I've put out a tweet to put him straight after that video that I've seen him do. It's between the three of them, it's definitely between the three of them, without a doubt," Bellew told Sky Sports. "There is unfinished business with Haye, but in all honesty, I love the thought of becoming heavyweight champion of the world, so my preference will be Parker." RE: Joseph Parker - Ibeabuchi - 06-05-2017 I used to be a fan of Bellew but hes quickly become insufferable after the haye fight, its as if he believes he beat the best version of Haye, not the washed up one legged Haye that was in the ring that night Id love to see a Heavyweight bang him out but Im concerned that even Bellew gives Parker a rough night at this point RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 06-05-2017 (06-05-2017, 12:06 PM)Ibeabuchi Wrote: I used to be a fan of Bellew but hes quickly become insufferable after the haye fight, its as if he believes he beat the best version of Haye, not the washed up one legged Haye that was in the ring that night Lol my thoughts exactlyl RE: Joseph Parker - Ibeabuchi - 06-05-2017 I like Joseph and support him 100% but it was in the middle of Takam fight and in the exchanges with Ruiz that I think I saw that his level of ability was nowhere near Top drawer Hes got a good chin and can put combinations together but his habit of drifting aimlessly backward and onto the ropes will spell disaster for him against a Wilder or Joshua. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 06-05-2017 No, Parker bombs out Bellew, beats Hughie in a close one, and loses to AJ and Wilder. At least now. I do think Joe can beat Ortiz, mainly because he's gotten old and slow, and has been inactive. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 06-05-2017 WBO boxing champion Joseph Parker is sticking with promoter David Higgins, according to a report. After five years of working together Duco Events directors Higgins and Dean Lonergan announced they were splitting their shared business interests last month. 1News has reported that Parker will continue working solely with Higgins throughout the duration of his contract, which runs up until late 2018. Higgins was understood to be continuing negotiations with Hughie Fury's team for a September fight. Joe would have a good chance against Ortiz if he could keep him at distance all night in a similar performance to the Ruiz fight. Problem is parker always has periods where he slows down and ends up exchanging, and ortiz is a very fluid and powerful puncher up close who would hurt joe and we need to know how joes temperament will be when he gets hit with hurtful punches. But i like that fight for joe think hed win and learn from it too RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 06-05-2017 Joseph Parker To Stay With Higgins, Eyes Fury For September According to 1 News, WBO heavyweight boxing champion Joseph Parker will remain with promoter David Higgins. As BoxingScene.com reported a few weeks ago, Higgins and fellow promoter Dean Lonergan - who were co-owners of promotional company Duco Events - had a bad falling out and were going their separate ways. Parker, who had a tough decision to make as he's friendly with both men, is sticking with Higgins for the long haul. Another fighter under the Duco banner is undefeated 2012 Australian Olympian Jeff Horn, who will remain with Lonergan. Horn faces Manny Pacquiao next month in Brisbane. Parker's contract with Higgins runs through until late next year. The news outlet reports that Parker will head to the UK for a promotional visit before returning to Las Vegas to head into training camp with Kevin Barry in the next few weeks. There are ongoing discussions to make a mandatory defense against Hughie Fury in September. He was scheduled to make that mandatory fight last month in New Zealand, but Fury withdrew with a back injury. If the two sides are unable to reach a deal, the contest will once again head to a purse bid. Duco won the first purse bid, but this time Fury's promoter Frank Warren is confident of winning and taking the fight to the UK. Another possible option, if the Fury fight once again falls out, is a world title defense against former WBC crusierweight champion Tony Bellew, who now completes in the heavyweight division - and Parker is open to that fight. "He's a bigger name, he's just beaten David Haye which shows that he's up there and he's a contender," Parker said. "We've been communicating through Twitter, he's a noisy character but he's also a gutsy character. He's a cruiserweight moving up to heavyweight - he's gutsy. I'd love to fight him." RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 06-05-2017 Don't understand why the first purse bid is not still in effect. Still the same fight.
