RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-30-2016 I don't see this fight as a given. If this fight goes past three rounds, Parker could drop his hands and get caught late: http://www.boxingscene.com/haumono-saw-flaws-believes-he-chin-check-joseph-parker--105121 RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 05-30-2016 I do like Haumono and suggest he is capable of the upset. However, much prefer Parker to fall over higher up the food chain than to an Aussie. Browne would drop him I think. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-30-2016 Sham, I don't think he'd chance Browne at this stage, but it's a fight I'd like to see. Anyone know how long he's been suspended? KB was saying nothing is definite about his fighting in the UK after Haumono, and that the next fight after him could be in NZ. I just can't see the AJ vs Parker fight happening anytime soon, as I think Parker is small potatoes compared to an AJ/Fury fight. Or a Whyte rematch or a Wilder fight. I think Hearn is trying to keep all his cards in play by playing along with Duco. The Battle for England is a much bigger, more $$$ fight. Parker would be smart to keep his nose around an AJ fight, but look at what else he can do in another alphabet than IBF. Maybe Wilder. If this fight goes past three rounds, Parker could drop his hands and get caught late:I believe that every boxer has flaws or faults, certainly all the greats did - albeit sometimes exceptionally hard to detect. Very astute and experienced coaches can study their fighters opponents and identify these flaws and form a game plan. The question is does that opponent have the ability and skill to capitalise on these flaws without showing his/her own flaws and suffering the consequences. As I mentioned earlier I still believe this is a very dangerous fight for Joseph for a no win situation. Sure Solomon could and possibly can capitalise on Josephs flaws or faults however what will he expose in himself in doing so and will it be to his detriment. I see this fight as being a mirror image to that of King Afa and Joes fight. Afa didn't have the advantage of any paid training camps to my knowledge Solomon will. The guy has heart but is very slow and lacks any real boxing skills (the guy struggled against Julius Long lol). Don't know if Parker would win by stoppage but I would back him at the very least to win by a wide UD. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-30-2016 Browne suspended for 6 months: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/79977192/australian-lucas-browne-stripped-of-world-heavyweight-boxing-crown-for-failed-test RE: Joseph Parker - Yanni - 05-30-2016 If JPs handlers care about the long term benefits, then I really hope they don't pit him against Haye. He would get rekt by that guy at this stage. He should fight Chisora or Price instead, neither of those guys present anywhere near as much danger and would still be meaningful learning bouts as well as being high profile. Anyway, it seems pretty obvious Sham amongst others on this board want JP to lose, for reasons I can't think of apart from some misplaced tall poppy syndrome which seems a very NZ thing. Maybe the board should be changed to UKboxchat instead? RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-30-2016 Joseph Parker's handlers talk tough as prospect of fight with Britain's David Haye raised British heavyweight David Haye is eager to give his comeback a push and New Zealand's Joseph Parker has been mentioned as an opponent. Joseph Parker's handlers aren't backing down from speculation in the United Kingdom the New Zealand heavyweight boxer could be matched against former world champion David Haye. Haye's comeback in Britain continues to gather momentum and, after winning his last two fights, it's a question of who's next for the 35-year-old who held the WBA belt for two years before losing to Wladimir Klitschko in 2011. Haye is slated to fight American veteran Shannon Briggs but commentators feel that will do his credentials little good in a British heavyweight market bulging with talent. Sky Sports in the UK suggested a clash with Parker would be a better test labelling it "an explosive fight with plenty at stake". READ MORE: * Haumono's sneaky peek at Parker * Mike Tyson likes Tyson Fury * Parker's true ranking revealed * Joseph Parker in Whyte's path The worry for Parker is the threat that would place on his mandatory challenger's position to Anthony Joshua's IBF belt. But Parker's promoter Dean Lonergan of Duco Events made it clear that Haye would be considered if Parker progresses past his next fight against Australian veteran Solomon Haumono in Christchurch on July 21. "If the money and conditions were right, Joseph and his team would consider any major fight in the UK, including David Haye," Lonergan said. Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn is eager to get Parker on a fight in Britain ahead of the mandatory challenge ( that time frame opens on November 19 but could be stalled by a unification bout that takes precedence) to boost his profile there. A clash with Haye would be a major attraction on the undercard to a Joshua promotion. The big question for the Parker camp would be whether it would be worth the risk involved to the looming title bid? Haye has been seen as an overblown cruiserweight. But he has speed and power and crafty ring knowledge – a testing combination against the 24-year-old Parker. His comeback after three and as half years of inactivity has drawn mixed responses. The benefits might lie more in the Haye corner than Parker's, especially if Haye's latest win can take him inside the IBF's top five rankings, meaning any clash with Parker would have automatic mandatory rights attached to it. A victory for Parker though would certainly push up his bargaining power for his inevitable fight with Joshua where the purse could be enormous. - Stuff RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 05-30-2016 (05-30-2016, 01:08 PM)diehard Wrote: I just can't see the AJ vs Parker fight happening anytime soon, as I think Parker is small potatoes compared to an AJ/Fury fight. AJ has to take the Parker fight (which would have to happen by Jan next year I think it is), unless he unifies. Either that or he loses the belt. RE: Joseph Parker - Boxingfan25 - 05-30-2016 Browne would get destroyed by Parker. Takam is hard to hit and good on the defensive where as Browne is extremely easy to hit and has poor defence and seems to think he has a chin of steel when he actually hasn't although after seeing the fight with Takam he prob fancies his chances a Bit more now. |
