RE: Joseph Parker - bopman - 02-20-2016 (02-20-2016, 02:03 AM)Justapakeha Wrote:Guys he is still learning, he is still a prospect and the best chance NZ has for a title. If you have been in the ring before you would know looking back at your corner is a great thing, obviously you pick your moments. Once Joe is more experienced he will look less to the corner but in these early stages of his career its a good thing, especially when game plans are not working to well. For a young fighter its hard to change tactics half way through a round , that's where experience comes in and help from your corner. As for being robotic and readable against Bergman I completely agree, but this was the first south paw and they needed a game plan and it took a bit longer to work in this fight.(02-20-2016, 01:16 AM)Infern0 Wrote:Yeah, one reason Im not sure of the Parker/barry chemistry. As a ground roots teacher hes great im sure. but he seems to be pretty stubborn and pigheaded with his 'knows best' approach. Just not sure if the basics works later on when you come up against real livewires. I would love parker to get in with a John david Jackson type, where it seems a bit more a team environment as opposed to 'do as i say' approach. Barry comes off a bit obsessive and un open to his fighter's - who knows though(02-20-2016, 01:02 AM)Justapakeha Wrote:(02-20-2016, 12:26 AM)Infern0 Wrote:(02-20-2016, 12:06 AM)Justapakeha Wrote: Rewatching the Bergman fight, I found Joseph Parker's attacks uncreative and predictable. Ie left left right then the inside work. Hes definitely prone to being timed for a cracking counter something Bergman couldnt utilise. I do believe cerebral boxers like Jennings, Ortiz, Fury, would capitalise on this. South paws like Tarver, Martin are all wrong for him. Ortiz is a nightmare. would like to see some more awkwardness in Parker's game. His movements are a bit trite and foreseeable. He should trust his power, mix it up and fight the fighter not just stick to the game plan hes been given. Need to see him in a crisis to see if he's got a plan b. RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 02-20-2016 I am not looking to criticise Joe too much as I obviously think he does have talent, but I just think that expectations and opinions need to be balanced somewhat because it's getting out of hand. He's a very good prospect, there is no doubt about that, but when you have Dean and Kevin constantly telling Stuff.co.nz that Parker would have beaten Fury and Klitschko, and the NZ Herald saying Joshua "ducked" Parker to fight Charles Martin, and the general public starts believing it, then it becomes dangerous. They have built him up too highly in my opinion, let's say he fights Carlos Takam next up, that's a HUGE step up in class, HUGE, what happens if Joe pulls straight back from a jab, and takam follows up with a right hand that Parker walks straight into, then, in his inexperience Joe gets up, tries to slug his way out of trouble while hurt, and Takam puts him away I'm telling you the casuals will turn on him ruthlessly, and it'll be his teams fault, not his. We need to understand where Joe is at, and that when he steps up to world level, he's still very young and we have to be reasonable about what we expect from him. When he does get in with a Takam or better level fighter, to be quite honest I expect he will lose, but I think he'll come back from it with a new team, and become a better fighter. I see him losing, then relocating to the states or europe and hooking up with a better promoter and trainer and being built back up properly with fights against tough, top 20 guys. Duco will throw him in too deep, too soon. They are already starting to look a bit desperate, with Joshua now getting the Martin fight and all the belts locked up, they will throw Joshua in a risky fight looking for $$$ and their greed will come back to bite them on the ass, just my prediction RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 02-21-2016 Facebook update: Joseph Parker 22 mins · First week done and dusted smile emoticon Looking forward to announcement next week #PatientlyWaiting #TeamParker RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 02-23-2016 World heavyweight champion Charles Martin dismisses Joseph Parker's tough talk Rising New Zealand star Joseph Parker has entered a war of words as the young contenders in the heavyweight division get vocal. IBF world heavyweight champion Charles Martin says rising New Zealand star Joseph Parker holds no fears for him as he division heats up. American Martin beat Vyacheslav Glazkov to win the vacant belt in January, flooring his opponent twice before it was called off in the third round because of a knee injury to the Ukrainian. Parker labelled Martin "nothing special" after that effort. Martin has now accepted an April challenge in London from Britain's Olympic champion Anthony Joshua, another fighter Parker has called out in a division full of young guns getting increasingly vocal. READ MORE: *Brit heavyweight doesn't fear Parker *Lonergan: Parker will end the myth that is Joshua *Joshua's boss says too early for Parker fight *Parker: New IBF champ 'nothing special' Parker is ranked No 6 by the IBF and his handlers are eager to try to manouevre him into a mandatory challenger's position, something they also want to do in the WBO where Parker is ranked No 1 behind British champ Tyson Fury. Parker's remarks haven't been lost on Martin. He bit back when the matter was raised in an interview with Boxingnews24.com. "I ain't worried by this guy, their just talking I don't care about what they say. They will know if I'm all hype when they get in the ring with me," the unbeaten Martin said of Parker. "Even the bums I fought up to now, they said it would be easy until they got in there then they gave me my props. "Punches don't look as fast from the outside to when you're in there. "I'm a world champion, a star. I love that they underestimate me. In this sport that's the best way to be the best kept secret. I know my abilities, they just have to deal with it when they're in the ring. I'd rather be the dark horse." Martin welcomed the division being opened up by Fury's win over long-term champion Wladimir Klistchko and predicted an exciting time as new blood takes over. "I'm so glad that it's alive again, it's thriving. We got a handful of great heavyweights ... there are going to be some great heavyweight fight's," Martin told Boxingnews24.com. "When it comes to Klitschko you can't beat father time. He was hitting 40, it was only a matter of time before he lost his belts. Us up and coming heavyweights we're young, strong, athletic, times change". Martin has set his sights on unifying the division and "has plans on taking down the top guys as fast as possible". "I want to do it fast. I'm young, hungry ... it can get real nasty in there, they haven't seen nothing. They think I'm going to get hit and I'm going to go down well let them think that we want to." Unbeaten Parker fights next in Christchurch in April against an opponent still to be named. - Stuff RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 02-23-2016 Stuff do an article whenever parkers name gets mentioned haha RE: Joseph Parker - james5000 - 02-24-2016 Joseph Parker @joeboxerparker 39m39 minutes ago ANNOUNCEMENT TOMORROW #TEAMPARKER RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 02-24-2016 About bloody time... RE: Joseph Parker - james5000 - 02-24-2016 Anyone figuring JP might be targeting the same opponent as Hughie Fury -----> Ustinov? They have both been saying their opponents will be finalized for the last week? Ustinov might be playing them off against each other? There have been worse theories but i'm still not expecting someone of decent standard RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 02-24-2016 I remember Stu saying that "we can always get Ustinov." So he wouldn't be a first option, but he does provide the size they are looking for. Just wonder if he'll fight Ortiz in the WBA tourney after TT???
