RE: Joseph Parker - Dannyboy - 01-25-2016 Just looking at all the feedback on here... I think we got to remember JP is still fairly green. Duco (and KB) said 2-3 years about a year ago for a shot at the title. Yes things have changed with Klitschko gone, but not that much. A lot of names are coming through and the top 10 is probably the strongest its been for a long time. Even though KB has said a possible title shot at the end of this year, I definitely cant see it!! JP is still learning the trade and that was very obvious in the frustration Bergman gave him. As did Whyte with Joshua. The best thing about this fight is the 8 rounds they now have to analyse and pick through. He will learn more out of this fight than the previous 17, it can only be a good thing for future southpaws and the like. No rush here guys, let the top 10 fight it out and weakness's exposed... Late 2017 for a title shot Im thinking !! RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 01-25-2016 Kinda agree with that Danny, it's not so much us here that's hyping Jo err, maybe die.... It's big mouthed Lonergan hyping things through the roof. Yes, Bergman made Jo appear pedestrian as far as a title goes anytime soon. At least Aj speaks his shortcomings, Jo and duco combined speak Ajs shortcomings but not their own. I'm thinking there is no rush here also, perhaps late 2017. Jo's opposition should get better, I don't think Bergman equals Dylian Whyte all the same. Maybe Fedosova would be going that way. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 01-25-2016 Gotta disagree, Danny. Respectfully of course. Duco is in the fast lane, and won't wait around for a title shot, unless it's all set up for 2017. Way I see it play out is that Parker faces a top 20 guy in CC in April. They've already said a top 20 guy, so my guess is that the guy has already agreed. I remember Stu saying that he's negotiating a contract a month ago. Then, they hit up the WBO or IBF for an answer to who Parker would need to fight to warrant an eliminator or mandatory. Assuming he wins in April, and that fight in July, he plays a waiting game with the WBO or IBF champ to give him his chance as THE eliminator or mandatory. Now, that could easily go into 2017 for a title fight for Parker. Danny, please tell KB to get a plastic or wiffle ball bat to hit Parker every time he lowers his right hand when he throws combos and squares up. Bergman caught him three times with solid punches when he did that, and an Ortiz, Martin, or Fury will KO him with a solid shot. Or Wilder with a left hook. Believe Roach does this with Pacman. I don't think KB or Duco think that Parker is green. They say they can beat Fury or Klit right now, and said the same about Martin. And AJ is running scared. Sure, it's hype, but would they actually fight one of them. I think they'd take the fight if it was offered. Possible scenario: Klit KO's Fury and retires, leaving two belts unattended. RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 01-25-2016 If my perception is right Dannyboy doesnt see Jo as advanced as Lonergan does. Maybe the dollar signs are flowing freely in duco sights, Dannyboy is more pragmatic and more so as to what went down with Bergman on the weekend. Of course they need get Jo to the next level in April, perhaps Fedosova as is being suggested, then sllightly higher if he gets past April. But no rush, definitely not at all or they'll blow the hen off the eggs.. Not a foregone conclusion Klit winning the rematch, certainly hope so. Might not retire even if he does. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 01-25-2016 Have a look at the standings. Especially the IBF. With Glazkov gone, Teper suspended, Cunningham down to cruiser, Szpilka lost. Parker AJ, and Takam could easily move to numbers #1, #2, and #3 if all three win when they next fight. WBC--Wilder champ 1. Alexander Povetkin 2. Anthony Joshua 3. Bermane Stiverne 4. Wlad already rated below JP and AJ.....ridiculous! RE: Joseph Parker - shamrock - 01-25-2016 Fightnews are a better guide based on performance and level of opposition RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 01-25-2016 I agree, Sham. Fightnews gives the most accurate indication with heavyweights. Not political. I gave the example earlier that AJ and Parker are rated in the top 5 in several alphabets while Breazeale, who has a similar record at 17-0 with 15 KO as having NO ranking in any alphabet in the top 15. As I've said earlier, neither AJ nor Parker have beaten ANYONE in the top ten. I would rate both in the top ten, but you could mix them up one to ten and anyone could win, or lose. RE: Joseph Parker - Cosmic Drop - 01-25-2016 Just looking at Parkers right punch...I have to agree with Bergmen, it does come a bit wide, but his hip waist rotation is incredibly fast it wouldn't be as easy to see as he would make out to be...but a fine tune top 10 fighter may exploit this yeah?? RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 01-25-2016 I'll pop in now for a quick summary of where I think Parker is at. Potential 9.5/10. Skills 8.7/10. Defense 7/10 Work Ethic 10/10 Overall- 8/10 The right power shot is my main concern, and I'm in agreement that needs work. Not as much as people think though, as it only tends to be an issue when he knows that the opposition is weak and can be dominated. Hence the worry that if he goes in over confident he may be popped a good one. The chin of his though seems pretty solid, with a smile after the decent left counter Bergman popped him with. He's never been dropped, but I'd like to think he's not one of those fighters that gets by on having "granite chin" otherwise he'll earn himself a gatekeeper role in the division and end up taking paychecks. I don't see that in Parker, he is enthusiastic, and that young exuberance comes out at times. Looking back, when there was a step up, he really changed styles, and was cautious, worked his way in with the jab, and measured up the time to attack very well. Look back on the videos of him fighting Minto for example. He took rounds, hardly got hit, and completely outboxed him. If Minto was fighting Joe next, Joe would size him up and go in all guns blazing, knowing he could dominate his opposite. I firmly believe that a long camp, building into a top 20 fight, you'll see Joe come in with his head firmly on the job at hand, and all those short videos showing the double and triple speed jabs, the flurry of body shots, the liver punch and the infamous skip punch will be on show. But I could be wrong, as I'm often told by my wife. NakiFan P.S http://www.allthebestfights.com/parker-vs-bergman-full-fight-video-2016/ |
