RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 12-21-2015 I don't think those 2 want to face off except for a world title. Neither camp will want that yet -Kiwi RE: Joseph Parker - Ina Mungstit - 12-21-2015 (12-21-2015, 08:20 PM)NakiFan Wrote: So with the Ortiz win over Jennings and the upcoming fights of De Mori-Haye, Glaskov-Martin and Wilder-Spzilka.....and the comments made by Stu Duncan...I agree with Kiwi in that i hope Ustinov is on the radar for Apr. Just think hes a very capable and clever fighter that could take Parker to a points decision and hence give him some good rounds that would require several tactical adjustments during the fight. July ild like to see Takam, reasonably ranked and heavy hitting guy, the rank helping Joseph climb and it would be good for him to feel some power and be forced to keep his thought on defense. But still not such a dangerous prospect as to risk a loss. After the Jennings/Ortiz fight, i think Jennings would be a good match for Parker late 2016/early 17 and given Jennings latest 2 losses, he maybe willing to risk a bit more now. Also ild like to see Parker fight Lucas Browne in 2016 and clean up this side of the planet as the number 1 australasian. Still as Stu pointed out, it seems the options are limited and many just arent willing to fight a fast developing Parker. The issue of the pulling/negotiation power of a smaller management team, in what is quite a political sport cannot be understated and will determine alot in the next year. I agree Naki in the suggested path you think Joshua will take Chisora, Helenius/Teper. Then Martin from the mandatory position. Assuming Martin beats Glazkov. On that note if Martin beats Glazkov,(as i think he will, but maybe by points) ild like to see Parkers team try to sort a fight with Glazkov and out perform what ever Martin does (like a 4rd round KO for our Joe) and put himself on the radar of comparison. As iv noted in other comments, i really am an advocate of slow progress for Parker, i know with the lolly scramble its tempting to make a run for the IBF title, but there so many different types of fighter ild like to see him have to contend with, and learn what adjustments are needed. Take the Ortiz fight, those guys made alot of changes in fight tactic/style to come to a solution. Sometimes raw power isnt enough, especially if the other guy has a chin of lead and a punch to boot. Joes only 23, most guys have 10 years on him and impressive amatuer careers. Joe needs to feel some real power from a guy that can slip punches, and also needs to be tested again with someone who keeps coming at him and tries to brawl (ie like Tatupu did, but classier) Avoid in this order of danger Wilder, Joshua, Ortiz, Klitsch, Fury, anyone else i think/hope Parker can beat. Sorry for long post. RE: Joseph Parker - gothenaki - 12-21-2015 Don't apologise for the length Ina - another great post. The only thing I forgot to factor in with the IBF, is that both Martin and Wilder are Haymon fighters, so if Martin wins, they may have a unification fight, which allows Wilder to duck Povetkin, and Martin to duck Teper/AJ/Parker I don't imagine it's a coincidence that Wilder and Martin are on the same card, and that Glazkov v Martin was rushed forward to suit I can see Glazkov, who has a load more experience (and that was important for Ortiz) winning on points, but it might be time for Glazkov to be on the receiving end of a decision for once. If he wins, you have to wonder - why was he offered so much more of the purse than Martin, even though Haymon won the purse bid. Obviously, although he is saying otherwise, Glazkov fights Wilder in the unification bout. Haymon gets his way, no matter who wins. Brezeale is a Haymon fighter, and the Judge who gave Brezeale all 10 rounds against Kassi should be indicted. I had it a draw, but there were AT LEAST 2 rounds where no sane person could possibly have given them to Brezeale, whatever the criteria, so that stinks. Kassi also got ripped off against Arreola (another Haymon fighter). Hard not to imagine that they could have judges in their pocket. Then, as we've already seen with Wilder, there will be a load more voluntary defenses, with Haymon pulling the strings in the background. PBC trying to tie up the belts. Problem for them, is there's some very hungry and powerful heavies who will come for them. Unfortunately boxing is never just about talent, and Duco are edging closer to those murky waters RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 12-22-2015 It's been a lot of fun, and a learning experience, with all the intelligent posts of late. Really appreciate reading them! I'll have to catch up on some of the heavyweight fighters over the holidays through youtube. I'm guessing Ustinov or Takam in April, with hopefully a fight in July that will lead to a title shot at the end of the year. As you say, Gothe, politics will play a key role in who fights Parker. The other three are either unnecessary or can't be easily made. Diehard's hit on it: January: Bergman April: Ustinov July: Top 5 eliminator or near eliminator, depending on the alphabets and politics End of year: A title shot against one of the 5 or 6 belt holders, or co-belt holders. RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 12-25-2015 Poor journalism really. It makes the media work by Parker and his handlers hard when names are thrown out like this and the average punter thinks "yeah, he should be fighting them instead of Martz". Like it's really that easy. Lets hope you are right die, as April should hopefully silence a number of critics. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 12-26-2015 I honestly don't see how Parker would have ANY trouble with these two clowns: Glazkov vs Rossy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqFXJauCNtE Martin vs Love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39_RlkbhVpg |
