Great fight and money maker for SBW if it happens. Said he'd take the fight.
Unfortunately Sonny Williams won't be a marketable draw in the USA
Sonny Bill Williams on the other hand is massive in NZ/Oz and possible big enough in UK to promote a decent scrap
I think he should fight Gallen in Oz. (stay away from Huni)
Then if he serious go to UK and link up with the Morecombe lads and have a few fights on JP or Tyson undercards and experience bigtime boxing.
Perfect bart.  Wanta be SBW's manager?  Seriously, that scenario sounds good.  Don't know the Morecombe lads.  Are they your cousins?

Are you watching Andrei and Pampallone? at 5:55 on SKY?  If not, tape it.  If you don't have SKY, well, sorry.
Morecombe lads
Tyson, JP ,Nyika etc
Oh yeah, Tyson's boyz.
New Plymouth's Fight Night back with support from Tyson Fury and Joseph Parker
Elijah Hill

Two gloves signed by Tyson Fury and Joseph Parker will be auctioned as a set at the Crowded House Bar and Eatery Friday 13th Fight Night.
Having twice been frustrated by Covid-related postponements to his Fight Night in New Plymouth, boxing promoter Sam Rapira has been given a hand by Joseph Parker and heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Well, a pair of gloves, to be precise.

The Crowded House Bar and Eatery Friday 13th Fight Night will see former All Black Liam Messam return to the ring on May 13 alongside other professional and corporate boxers.

A full house will have 2000 boxing fans at ringside, making it the biggest event of the year to date for the TSB Stadium.

After hearing about the event, Fury and Parker, both based in England, sent Rapira a signed pair of gloves which will be auctioned off along with other boxing memorabilia on the night.

The auction will fundraise for the non-profit amateur boxing club Box Office Boxing.

Rapira is now finalising plans to have an opponent ready for 38-year-old heavyweight, Messam.

The night will also feature New Plymouth fighters including Louis Duffels Des Forges and Te Kapotai “Te Taniwha” Tohu as well as “by far the most experienced” group of corporate boxers Rapira has produced.

General admission tickets go on sale on Wednesday, April 20.
Boxing: Jerome Pampellone to step up to cruiserweight to fight Nik Charalampous at Auckland Museum

Jerome Pampellone is striking while the iron is hot.

The 25-year-old hasn't wasted any time in establishing himself on the local boxing scene. After amassing a 32-7 record at the amateur level, the Auckland light heavyweight has quickly put together 11 wins on the professional circuit since his debut in late 2020.

Earlier this month, Pampellone put on a clinic over 12 rounds against Lucas Miller in his debut on Australian soil, introducing himself to a new audience.

Now, he's looking to build on the back of it.

"I'm looking to be as active as I can, hopefully go back to Australia again, but it's going to be a real active year for me. I want to put myself out there and let everyone know who I am," Pampellone told the Herald.

While he might have been hoping to earn a stoppage against Miller, Pampellone gained valuable time in the ring, and particularly in late rounds of a fight. What was pleasing was how he handled himself in the bout, throwing with power for the entire 12 rounds and maintaining his output after a fast start.

With one fight under his belt this year in his win over Miller, Pampellone will look to continue his momentum when he moves up to fight battle-tested cruiserweight Nik Charalampous (20-5). The two will meet in the headline bout of the Podis Boxing fight night at Auckland Museum on May 20, with Charalampous replacing John Parker in the headline spot.

Initially planned for a 2021 meeting but delayed several times due to Covid-19, Pampellone and Parker – both promising, unbeaten prospects – were scheduled to fight for the New Zealand light heavyweight title. However, Parker withdrew due to a lack of preparation after the date kept getting changed due to the pandemic.

Promoter Nick Randell of Podis Boxing is hopeful of that fight still being a possibility later in the year, however Pampellone's coach Isaac Peach of Auckland's Peach Boxing felt Parker had missed his chance.

"John Parker will never fight Jerome; it's done," Peach said. "We're not going back to John Parker. The fight is now and he doesn't want the fight so it won't happen. The result won't change; John's just dodging it.

"It's good publicity and it can happen now, but where I want Jerome by the end of the year, John Parker's not even in the equation."

Speaking on the bout, Parker 's manager David Higgins said it was a fight Parker "desperately" wanted, but it wasn't smart or good for boxing to take on the back of little preparation.

Parker is scheduled to fight in early May, and is hopeful of getting a fight on the undercard of brother Joseph's next bout - which is expected to be in the UK later this year - before taking the Pampellone fight, should it still be on the table.

"They just want to feast on John," Higgins said of Pampellone's camp's desire for the fight to happen now.

In replacing Parker, Charalampous poses a big test for Pampellone, and is one both fighter and coach are excited by. The cruiserweight limit (90.7kg) is about 12kg above the light heavyweight mark Pampellone hit against Miller (78.9kg), and Charalampous has an impressive strength of schedule, being four fights removed from going the distance against current IBF world title contender Jai Opetaia.

Pampellone said he had no issue with stepping in against a bigger opponent as he spars weekly with top Kiwi cruiserweight David Light – who himself returns to the ring after about 18 months on the sidelines in two weeks' time – and said he would be coming in comfortable.

"I was excited, man," Pampellone said of the change in opponent. "He's an experienced fighter, he's fought many good people and gone the rounds with them. To have the chance to fight him, I was happy to take it to show, again, my boxing skills.

"I train hard and train with bigger boys myself, like David Light. So, I have that experience sparring with the bigger boys. But it's a fight, so I'm just going to go in at a good, strong weight and I can't wait."
Boxing: Eddie Hearn on possible Sonny Bill Williams bout against Jake Paul, and other options for former All Black
28 Apr, 2022 12:00 PM

Eddie Hearn has one simple question for Sonny Bill Williams – what do you want from the sport?

The former All Blacks and Kiwis star returned to professional boxing in 2021 after six years away from the ring, and has shown his intentions in pursuing the sport by linking up with Andy Lee and Tyson Fury in the UK for his most recent camp.

A massive name in the sporting world, the 36-year-old said focusing on boxing fulltime for the first time would be the final chapter of his sporting career in the lead up to his demolition job of Barry Hall in March.

That performance caught the eye of many, including Hearn, and social media star turned boxer Jake Paul, who recently called Williams out.

While in New York this week ahead of the undisputed lightweight title fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, Hearn caught up with Paul and asked him about the fight, and confirmed it was something Paul was serious about – despite the size differences.

"I think Jake likes it because it's an international fight; and how good is Sonny Bill Williams? Andy Lee has done a great job, but there's the conversation or debate of is he a fighter or is he a rugby player," Hearn said.

"He's certainly putting the time and effort in, and it was a great performance last time out, but I guess the fight is to make Sonny Bill versus [Paul] Gallen. That's the fight for Down Under. But if that can't get made – I know Gallen has a fight coming up – maybe the Jake Paul fight is one we could have some fun with."
