Otto Wallin interested in Joseph Parker fight as he stakes claim to face Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury
Otto Wallin is open to facing Joseph Parker in his next fight, confirmed promoter Dmitriy Salita; the Swedish heavyweight wants "significant" fights as he targets Anthony Joshua or a rematch with Tyson Fury

Thursday 3 November 2022 07:14, UK

Otto Wallin's team have expressed interest in a fight with Joseph Parker as the Swede looks to stake his claim to be Anthony Joshua's next opponent.

Wallin made his UK debut in February, defeating Kamil Sokolowski in Cardiff, and hopes to land a big-name bout in Britain against Joshua, or even a rematch with Fury.

But the 31-year-old could first share the ring with former WBO champion Parker, who is rebuilding his career following his September stoppage loss to Joe Joyce.

"Otto fought in the UK this year," Wallin's promoter Dmitriy Salita told Sky Sports. "His goal is to get a rematch with Tyson Fury and to fight Anthony Joshua.

"Otto wants to keep busy with significant fights.

"Joseph Parker is a good opponent for Otto to fight - and one that we will pursue with interest."

"I know that Otto's name is in the mix with some others and it's something that we're very interested in and we've expressed interest to Eddie (Hearn)," said Salita.

"From what I know and from what I understand, Otto is in play for a possible fight with Anthony Joshua."

Wallin suffered his only defeat on points in a bloody battle with Fury in 2019, but believes his southpaw style would provide more serious problems for Joshua.

Salita added: "Otto feels very confident about his chances to win, while it's possible that Joshua may feel a little intimidated coming off a loss against a southpaw in Usyk. He did a great job, but he lost.

"There have been some good discussions, we love the fight and we're ready for it, any time, any day of the week."
There goes JP down the list, ranked WBC #10 and WBO #8.  Lots of good fights higher in the rankings if he can get them.

Seriously Michael Hunter #6 WBO how the hell- are you better off not fighting anyone than losing late to the #1???
Also Frank Sanchez right up there without fighting anyone of real note. (He is a prospect but still)
Dempsey McKean at #9???
Well, Sanchez did beat the Hammer!  https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/814335

DDD also loses to JJ and he's a co-champ.  However, he did beat Trevor Bryan!

A farce, I tell you, a farce.
Joseph Parker flies to Britain for quick return to action

Joseph Parker dealt out a bit of damage of his own in his fight against Joe Joyce.
New Zealand heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker has flown to Britain, looking for a quick return to action.

Parker left Auckland on Tuesday night.

Parker’s first stop is London where he will take in the action from this weekend’s heavyweight fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where his good friend Tyson Fury defends his WBC belt against fellow Brit Derek Chisora on Sunday (NZT).

Parker, 30, will then relocate to Morecambe and link up with his trainer Andy Lee to start a camp at Fury’s gym facilities.

Parker’s promoters at Boxxer haven't publicly confirmed an opponent or date, but he is expected to be in action early in the new year.

Boxxer have a promotion set for Manchester on January 22 (NZT) that is headlined by British middleweights Chris Eubank Jr and Liam Smith.

A brave Joseph Parker went down fighting in an 11th round knockout loss to Joe Joyce in Manchester.
Parker is coming off the first knockout loss of his career, suffering an 11th round stoppage at the hands of Britain’s Joe Joyce in Manchester in late September.

It was just the third loss of Parker’s career, taking his record to 30-3.

The defeat didn’t dent his enthusiasm. Parker expressed a wish to stay busy, and it appears he has had that answered, adamant he can stay relevant in the division.

Parker should enjoy another decent pay day in a British market where he has earned a growing reputation after taking on most of their best heavyweights, losing close contests to Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte in 2018, while winning two absorbing fights against Chisora last year.

Parker was competitive and game against Joyce before the giant Brit slowly but surely wore him down and eventually caught the Kiwi with a brutal left hook that put him to the canvas.

The loss hit Parker’s rankings hard, dropping him from No 2 to No 8 with the WBO where he is a former champion, and No 10 with the WBC.
Hoping it's Sanchez. Where's kiwi when we need him for the goss?
lol was just going to post that article
I think they will want a winnable fight first- it looks like it will be an undercard fight on Eubank Jnr show so likely not a big name HW.
Not sure who fits the bill but JP needs a KO win for future promotional value
A winnable fight gets his confidence back.  A Sanchez fight keeps him relevant in the top 5, and even a contender once Fury retires.

Regardless, he can't lose again.  No one would promote him after Boxxer if he lost.  I think this will be the second of a three fight deal?
possibly
Give him a winnable then target a $ fight
If Whyte doesn't get AJ target Whyte - call him out- Whyte doesn't want JJ so may take JP
AJ doesn't know which direction to go to fight or to be trained by

Hunter?
Hunter hasn't been relevant in awhile, so he'd be a good fight with a good ranking. How about DDD?
