THe odds went against Takam when the French lost the purse bid. But that's the way the cookie crumbles, may have been a little different if fight was done in France don't you think.

It may have been a bit different if Takam threw more punches, if you put that fight anywhere on the planet Takam still loses

Whatever James. Only myself and Die have posted scorecards, take a look; both of us have very close rounds that could have gone either way. Your a fanboy so its understandable your going to side with Parker. So go copy our cards and change a round here or there and you get a Parker win but don't make out like it was a dominant victory. Like Sham said the fight could have gone the other way if held in another location with Takams promoters in charge and paying everyone involved.

I remember you hiding when I offered you 3 to 1 on odds on Chisora to beat Pulev in a fight you said for a fact Chisora would win, then disappearing for the week following his defeat. You like to talk but hide when put on the spot. Your cred is laughable.

The best things from this fight are the experience Parker will have gain against a credible opponent and the fact that his fanboys now realize he is far from what they thought. Many of his fans were delusional coming into this fight, saying he would beat this guy and that and I'm happy that this fight outlined many things Parker needs to work on and brought his fans back to reality.

Picking the wrong guy in one fight doesn't make your credibility laughable.

Good posts everyone. Gotta give Duco credit for getting the fight in NZ and home court advantage, which helps not only the language barrier, but the familiarity factor, the routines, being amongst family and friends, etc. Well done, Duco. Will be very different in the UK. Gotta always look for an advantage, right Sham?

Listened to Jimmy Smith (In That Corner) on Radio Sport. He was a huge supporter of Tua. Met him in Vegas. He knows everything there is to know about boxing. Anyway, he was saying that Parker needs to add more power, and suggested he spend less time on the pads and more on the heavy bag. Said he showed great speed, endurance, and calm. Has huge respect for KB, and they used to hang out together. Interestingly, said that he gave KB a video of Ali vs Frazier to help prepare Tua for LL. Said he wasn't sure if Tua watched it.

Fai, it is a concern that KB may be one dimensional and can he take Jo further than this stage of his game into the real world of big men. It would be a shame to consider the aim is just to get a title shot with the money win or lose with the idea that losing is profitable...
There seems to be confusion about what determines #1 mandatory in the IBF....

Eddie Hearn quoted that the Takam vs Parker winning is mandatory to AJ

NZ media is all quoting the same...

Yet: http://www.badlefthook.com/2016/5/21/11728594/parker-vs-takam-results-joseph-parker-wins-decision-gets-closer-to-ibf-shot

Parker is now the No. 1 rated IBF contender, with Kubrat Pulev recently beating Dereck Chisora to claim the No. 2 spot. The sanctioning body will likely soon order a fight between Parker and Pulev for the mandatory challenger position.
I saw that as well. This was questioned a few weeks ago and was shot down from various sources. As I understand it, the contract is that the winner of Parker/Takam is the mandatory. No other fights are needed to face the IBF champ.

The guy got KO'd by Kevin Johnson. His resume is very poor. We all know what Parker does to C level opponents. Parker needs more tests around Takam's level. Duco best be prepared for lots of people to stream this fight. Why pay $30 - $50 for it.

Stating it as a fact does
That's a whole new different perspective NakiFan, if not confusing to Duco's statements of a straight to the title hoedown for Jo. A watch this space scenario...

Joseph Parker got the first significant test of his career today in New Zealand, and he passed that test, beating Carlos Takam by unanimous decision with a solid if flawed performance that puts Parker in line for an IBF heavyweight title shot.

Parker (19-0, 16 KO) won on scores of 115-113, 116-112, and 116-112, all reasonable. BLH had the fight 115-113 Parker, and despite the close score in rounds, it was certainly Parker who claimed the fight -- or, arguably, Takam who gave it away.

Takam (33-3-1, 25 KO) started well, catching an overeager Parker in the first round with some good counter left hooks, a punch that was his best weapon in the fight, particularly in the first half. But Parker adjusted nicely in the second and third rounds, settling down and finding a tempo he liked, keeping Takam from so easily countering by using less reckless aggression.

In the fourth, Takam started to pressure a bit more in the second part of the round, and the fifth was a big one for Takam, who really turned up the heat and had Parker retreating and looking suddenly very exhausted. Armed with the information that he could put Parker on the retreat and do some damage, Takam chose to use that breakthrough to, well, not do much of anything in the sixth and seventh rounds.

The eighth was the most action-packed frame of the fight, as both fighters were buzzed a bit, and Parker expended a ton of energy with a mid-round flurry and attempt to close the show, which Takam got through relatively unscathed, then finished the round strong himself. Parker still looked tired through the ninth, but was bizarrely handed another couple of rounds from Takam in the 10th and 11th, obviously crucial rounds, at a point where Takam really needed to do something. He did get back on the front foot in the 12th and final round, but by then he'd already given Parker too much breathing room.

This very easily could've been a different fight, and Parker very easily could have lost if Takam hadn't clearly stepped off the gas in at least three rounds. But he did, and Parker had a lot to like here, too, showing well above average hand speed, some good combination punching, a nice body attack that we don't often see in the division anymore, a solid chin, and a lot of determination.

Parker is now the No. 1 rated IBF contender, with Kubrat Pulev recently beating Dereck Chisora to claim the No. 2 spot. The sanctioning body will likely soon order a fight between Parker and Pulev for the mandatory challenger position.
I still believe that #1 mandatory is that, the sources I have all read tend to state that Parker is next in line after beating Takam.
