Bam beats Cuadras for WBC superfly belt

In a clash for the vacant WBC super flyweight title, Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (15-0, 10 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over former world champion Carlos Cuadras (39-5-1, 27 KOs) on Saturday night at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Rodriguez, stepping in on late notice after Cuadras’ original foe Srisaket Sor Rungvisai was forced out due to illness, dropped Cuadras in round three and pulled away to win 117-110, 117-110, 115-112.

In a complete mismatch, WBA female bantamweight champion Jamie Mitchell (8-0-2, 5 KOs) smashed novice Carly Skelly (4-1-1, 0 KOs) in four rounds. Mitchell dropped Skelly in rounds one and two, and got a referee’s stoppage in round four. Time was 1:32.

In a clash between unbeaten featherweights, Raymond Ford (11-0-1, 6 KOs) successfully defended his WBA Continental featherweight against Edward Vazquez (11-1, 3 KOs). Scores of 98-92, 97-93 Ford, 96-94 Vazquez brought boos from the crowd.

Flyweight Fernando Diaz (10-1-1, 3 KOs), originally slated to face Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez, took a ten round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Lorenzo Smith (10-0, 8 KOs). Smith recovered from a fifth round knockdown to win 96-93, 96-93, 95-94.

Light Heavyweight Khalil Coe (2-0-1, 2 KOs) blew away Dylan O’Sullivan (1-1, 0 KOs) in two rounds.

Middleweight Elijah Garcia (10-0, 9 KOs) stopped Antonio Louis Hernandez (6-12-2, 4 KOs) after the completion of three rounds.

Heavyweight Adam Stewart (13-1-1, 8 KOs) dropped Alvin Davie (6-3, 5 KOs) in round six en route to a six round unanimous decision. Scores were 60-53 3x.
