Pretty cool to see a Kiwi who isn't a heavyweight get this sort of publicity off the back of a life-changing opportunity.
Even if he doesn't win if Morgan gives a strong account of himself he is sure to get more international fights when the word gets closer to normal in 2021 and the exposure he's getting makes it easier for all the Kiwi kids at lighter weights coming through the ranks

Bowyn Morgan in best shape of his life ahead of battle with Tim Tszyu
Bowyn Morgan says sacrificing Christmas with his family will be worth it if he can beat Tim Tszyu

This one has a pay wall so I'll put it in here
The sad prospect of Christmas in hotel quarantine has New Zealand boxer Bowyn Morgan extra motivated to earn the early present of a win over Tim Tszyu on December 16.

Underdog Morgan has had to give up spending Christmas with his three daughters and partner as he will spend two weeks in hard quarantine on his return home after the Bankwest Stadium showdown.

“It’s a huge one,” Morgan said dwelling on spending Christmas and New Year Eve by himself.

“I’ve got kids, three girls, so that was a massive call for us.

“I sat down with my partner and she gave me the green light so there were no questions after that.

“You don’t become a boxer to take it here and there, you’ve got to be all in. You can’t just skip around the fact, get an opponent here and there and be done with it.

“Once you climb those ropes, you’ve made your mind up, you want to take it as far as you can. I’m in it for the long haul.”

Morgan, a 31-year-old born Christchurch resident with a professional record of 20 wins from 21 bouts, said he was coming to Sydney to knock Tszyu out and that he could not rely on the judges.
“I have to put him away to get the win,” he said.

“There can’t be judges entailed for me to get the win.

“I just know with my fighting style compared to his, I have to get him out of there.”

The winner of the bout will claim the IBF Australasian and WBO Global super welterweight titles.

“This is a life-changing fight,” Morgan said.

“This is a massive opportunity and it’s another way to put me on the world scene.”

Morgan was impressed with Tszyu’s eighth-round stoppage of Manny Pacquiao-conqueror Jeff Horn in August, but promised to exploit unbeaten Tszyu’s weakness “on the inside”.

“He’s been boxing great. He’s got great hands, good footwork, (but) I just think that everyone he’s fought, he hasn’t had someone like me who loves to come forward on that front foot.

“No-one’s pushed him on the front foot. As much as he wants it, no-one has, so that’s a weakness.”

Morgan arrives in Australia next Friday but said all the hard work had already been done.

“I’m feeling great. Come December 16, I’m going to be more that ready,” he said.

“It may come down to those moments of who wants it the most.

“This will be the best shape I’ve ever been in. It definitely gets me out of bed every single morning.”
