Chris Kenny

Hi NZ Boxing followers, as some of you may be aware Chris Kenny passed away yesterday. I would like to set up this thread for people to say their bit, and I will be taking it down to the funeral in Wellington later this week.

Chris was a hard working top bloke who did his bit for NZ Amateur Boxing. He was the National Coach for a number of years and a well respected mentor to many past NZ Champions, including his son Michael, whom I had the privilege of representing NZ along side at the 1990 Commonwealth Games where Mike won Gold in the Superheavyweight division.

Knew Chris well, was a good man and great coach. Had many times with Chris in the opposite corner. He took son Regan overseas to represent NZ. Very sad and a great shock to hear of his passing.

Further, that was a massive tribute from you and Pogues to drive down overnight to attend the funeral. Beautiful mate!
