There might be some guys in the top 100 that would take the offer. I think the promoters would be trying to keep costs reasonable for an undercard bout. As you said earlier, perhaps an Aussie (or a kiwi) reduces travel costs & having to accommodate an opponent for a longer period to acclimatise. What's on offer is probably not worth it for Floyd Masson but he is rumoured to be fighting John Parker at the end of July anyway.

I think team Nyika also want an opponent that can rebuild his confidence. He took a nasty KO & will have been out 6 months by fight time. They'll want to see how he reacts to punches & hopefully get some rounds in. Nik fits that bill.

No one has said that Nik is the only fighter that would take the fight but he's a realistic option for what's probably being offered & for Nyika to shake off some of the demons from his previous defeat against.

I haven't doubled down on Charalampous at all. He just seems a realistic comeback undercard opponent. Again, no one said he is the ONLY one that would take this fight for the money. You said it was "Sad. A mis-match" & although I agree that a healthy Nyika should dominate Charalampous, I see him as a realistic opponent for what's probably on offer & to gauge where Nyika is at. I simply asked you since you thought it was such a mis-match, who you would suggest as an opponent that would be willing to take the offer. You & I don't know who else team Nyika reached out to but I'm sure Charalampous wasn't the only fighter on their list.

Nyika can disparage Charalampous all he wants. The question then becomes then why are you fighting him? He's right though, if he loses to Nik he should retire.

Thanks for your very thoughtful response. I guess my concern is more with Nik than Nyika. At his age, his general lack of training off and on throughout his career, and the fact that he's going against a beast in Nyika concerns me. He's only been stopped once, and fought some tough guys, so I'm hoping Nik does well.

I realise that it's an undercard fight, but I just thought Mr Higgins and Nyika could find a better opponent for the money on offer.
