Izu didn't look over-trained to me. He seemed sharp. When I see a boxer over-trained, they seem flat and tired. Izu was anything but. But if it were true that he was over-trained, then Izu made the same mistake as Parker did before the Takam fight when he did a 12 week training camp. Under KB. KB better take better care of his fighters. I know both Parker and Izu are keen, but it's KB's job to pace their training camp.
I think Izu's problem, as he's said, is that he tried to KO him early. When he couldn't and got knocked down himself, I think he panicked, and consesquently used up all his energy, as well as energy from throwing so many punches early.
He was getting to Breazeale easily. He just needed to stay out of the exchanges and continue to outbox him until the later rounds, as the KO would come. But try telling that to a fighter who has knocked down his opponent and almost has him KO'd. Especially a guy with under 20 fights. IF he had KO'd him, we'd be telling a whole different story now.
