It happened prior to a long training camp, either Takam or Ruiz. Can't remember. KB kept him there for 12 weeks. Over-trained him. Used to do the same thing to Tua post Duva.

New York Times 1998

" By the time he lost by decision to unbeaten Ike Ibeabuchi, his left elbow was deteriorating he had an operation to remove bone chips and he had grown stale. He seems refreshed, and not because of his blond beard "lightning," explained his co-manager, Kevin Barry. Rahman will try to get Tua to lunge, using some lateral movement. Tua will be pressing. Neither man can run. Their feet aren't that good. It should be a dilly. The picks here, and they have not had a good year, either, are Mayweather by decision and Tua by the 10th round.

Odd. KB perscribing too much heavy bag work?

Just kept both of them in training camp too long. Bottom line, according to Tua, KB wanted it more than Tua did. With Parker, KB was just obsessed with Joe getting a belt.
