Kambosos Middle East offer on the table

By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

Undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos has been offered to defend against WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney in the Middle East.

“I spoke to Lou DiBella and he’s doing his work in Australia,” Eddie Hearn told DAZN. “We’ve had an offer from the Middle East for Haney-Kambosos. This is one we’re edging towards where we’re receiving a firm offer for. For me, it’s the only fight in the division.

“I know Top Rank is talking about Lomachenko against Kambosos. We need to wrap up this undisputed situation We need to know who is the real champion. It’s a natural fight. Haney against Kambosos is a brilliant fight

“We can do it Sunday in Australia; we can do it in the United Arab Emirates. We can do it in America; Devin Haney is ready to go for that fight. He won’t price himself out. He realizes that George Kambosos is the king of the division right now. He’s the one with most of the belts, and he’s the one that put in a good performance the last time out with a big win “

Russell: I felt like I won the fight

“I believe I have a torn tendon in my right shoulder,” former WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. said in the ring after losing his world title to Mark Magsayo. “I haven’t competed in almost two years. This is what true champions do. I wanted to step into the ring and display my superiority regardless of the injury and whatnot. We did that and I gave him a boxing lesson. I gave him a boxing lesson the whole way through. I landed clean whenever I wanted to. I couldn’t use my right arm, but I was still able to throw effective shots and touch him at will…I felt like I still won the fight to be honest with you. I fought with one arm. He had his hands full with a fighter with one arm and the whole fight I gave him a boxing lesson!”

Russell stated that it was an old injury from before the 2008 Olympics and he reinjured it two weeks ago in training camp.

When asked if he wanted a rematch, Russell stated “Hell yeah! Will he want a rematch?”

Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano showdown women's boxing's first to headline MSG
09:17, Jan 28 2022

Katie Taylor will make boxing history when she tops the bill at MSG in April against Amanda Serrano.
Katie Taylor will defend her lightweight titles against Amanda Serrano on April 30 in what organisers say will be the first women's boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden.

Taylor (20-0, 6 KOs), the 2012 Olympic gold medallist from Ireland, owns all four titles in the 135-pound division. Serrano (42-1-1 30 KOs) has held titles in seven weight divisions and their meeting will be one of the biggest events in women's boxing history.

“When I turned professional my goal was to be involved in huge events like this, so to headline at Madison Square Garden in a fight of this magnitude is really the pinnacle of the sport," Taylor said in a release announcing the fight.

"It’s such an iconic venue and has been home to so many of the historic moments in boxing and I truly believe this will be another one.”

Both have previously fought at Madison Square Garden, where Taylor became undisputed champion with a victory on June 1, 2019. They now will be the first women's main event in one of the most famous venues in sports.

Serrano was born in Puerto Rico but now lives in New York.

“It is a dream come true to have the opportunity to headline Madison Square Garden and do so against one of the greatest boxers of all time in Katie Taylor,” she said.

Taylor beat Serrano's sister, Cindy, by unanimous decision in a 2018 bout in Boston.
