Fenech: Mike Tyson would KO Wilder

By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

Hall of Famer Jeff Fenech says former unified heavyweight champion Mike Tyson would have knocked out former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder if they had fought in their primes.

“Boxing’s not the same now. I’d guarantee that if Mike Tyson trained for six weeks, he’d knock Wilder out in a minute,” Fenech told Sporting News. “He would hit them. If these guys are getting knocked out by Tyson Fury – who’s a great fighter, but not a huge puncher – Tyson would kill these guys. They’re not on the same level today.”

Mike Tyson: I still work out every day

By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

Hall of Famer Mike Tyson had to control his fear when he stepped into the ring and still works out each day to stay in shape. “I never thought I could handle being a fighter. It just was. I’ve never been able to handle it. You always get nervous. I’m nervous now. That’s just part of life. I believe from my experience that the feeling is a natural defense mechanism. You rise to the occasion or you freeze. You learn to deal with that,” Tyson said to actor Kenan Thompson.

“What is a normal person? It has nothing to do with being an athletic person, it’s about your morale. Fighting has a lot to do with morality too. It’s not about taking it, it’s the willingness to die, that’s what life is. When you stand up to it you no longer have to fear it,” Tyson said.

“I’m working out, I’m getting up every day. I do an hour on my bike, an hour on my treadmill, then I do some light weights. I’m getting ready to go there, another week or two and I’m going to start hitting the bag.”

Watch Tyson v Quick Tillis last night, was surprised how well Tillis did.
They always used to say Holmes showed the way to hit Tyson- with an uppercut coming in - well this was way before Holmes fight and Tillis was landing uppercuts aplenty.

Great find. I only watched part of the fight so far, but Tillis looked good. Hit Tyson with some good right hands too!

Saw the Calgaze doco on SKY this afternoon. Very interesting story. Ended up 46-0. Had heaps of power until he hurt his hand. Like Tyson, he was bullied at school because he was small, which was one reason he took up boxing. Here's the Calgaze/Hopkins fight:
