Parker chops down 6’7 Dimitrenko in three
By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

Unbeaten IBF and WBO #1 rated heavyweight Joseph Parker (21-0, 18 KOs) scored a one-sided third round KO over 6’7 Alexander Dimitrenko (38-3, 24 KOs) on Saturday night at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, New Zealand. Parker was sharp and accurate, hurting Dimitrenko with practically everything he threw. He dropped the Ukranian giant in round one with a left/right combination. Parker sent Dimitrenko to the canvas two more times in round two. Dimitrenko went down for the fourth time from a body shot in round three and while he was on a knee still clinging to Parker, the Kiwi blasted him again with a shot to the side. Dimitrenko writhed around on the canvas as he was counted out by referee Marlon Wright, who didn’t see the foul. Time was 1:38.

With the win, Parker is expected to move to either a November world title fight against IBF champion Anthony Joshua, or possibly meet Andy Ruiz for the vacant WBO belt should Tyson Fury be stripped as expected.

Earlier, unbeaten WBO #12 heavyweight Izuagbe Ugonoh (17-0, 14 KOs) remained undefeated with a second round TKO over journeyman Gregory Tony (21-7, 16 KOs). Tony down three times.
