I'm pretty sure that fight is off as Waitai is set for this fight next month:

Different Taihia vs Waitai, but hey, what's in a name...in truth, I don't know if the fight this weekend is on or off, as the event only listed two fights at this late date. But, nothing unusual about that.

Nah, exact same Taihia & Waitai, they've just mis-spelled Francis' first name on the May 10th poster. I mean the fight could be on today, it just seems unusually close to the May 10th date, which is a more relevant fight against an opponent coming of a much higher profile win in their last fight than Taihia who hasn't fought in 6 years.

Ricaia Warren

Born and raised in New Zealand, Ricaia Warren is one of the most exciting rising talents in the country's super middleweight ranks. A natural right-hander with a deep boxing pedigree, Warren carries with him both impressive amateur credentials and an unbeaten professional record into every bout.

Warren made his professional debut in July 2022, announcing his arrival with an explosive stoppage victory over Sivan Hermez. Since then, he has compiled a flawless record of 5-0, with 4 of those wins coming by way of knockout. His aggressive style, sharp combinations, and natural punching power have made him a standout among New Zealand’s emerging boxing prospects.

His boxing journey began well before the pros. As an amateur, Warren was a two-time New Zealand National Junior Champion and represented New Zealand at the 2013 AIBA World Junior Championships in Kiev, Ukraine, where he reached the top 16 – a significant achievement on the world stage. His domestic accolades include gold at the North Island Golden Gloves (four times), the East Coast Regional Cadet Championship, the CNI Championship, and the Waikato Championship.

Warren’s success is deeply rooted in family. He is trained by his father, Aaron Warren, and grew up around the sport with two older brothers who also competed as fighters. This tight-knit support system has shaped Ricaia into a disciplined and focused competitor.

Amateur Highlights:

2009 Silver Medalist – New Zealand National Cadet Championship

2010 Gold Medalist – North Island Golden Gloves Cadet Championship

2010 Gold Medalist – East Coast Regional Cadet Championship

2012 & 2013 Gold Medalist – New Zealand National Junior Championship

2013 Top 16 – AIBA World Junior Championships, Kiev, Ukraine

2014 Gold Medalist – North Island Golden Gloves Youth Championship

2015 Silver Medalist – New Zealand National Youth Championship

2016 Silver Medalist – North Island Golden Gloves Youth Championship

Upcoming Bout: Warren vs. McIntyre – June 8, 2025

Warren is set for his toughest challenge yet as he faces highly regarded Australian prospect Max McIntyre (7-0, 6 KOs) in a clash of unbeaten fighters on June 8 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Queensland, Australia. The matchup is part of the undercard for the anticipated Jai Opetaia vs. Claudio Squeo "Return 2 Paradise" event.

This eight-round super middleweight contest promises to be a battle of skill, grit, and power. Both fighters enter the ring with knockout-heavy resumes and a hunger to prove themselves on a bigger stage. McIntyre, known for his sharp technique and punishing shots, poses a real threat, but Warren’s combination of raw power, amateur pedigree, and relentless forward pressure could be the difference-maker.

A victory here would not only preserve Warren’s unbeaten record but also firmly establish him as a top-tier contender in the Australasian scene. Fight fans can expect a fast-paced, high-stakes encounter between two of the region’s most promising super middleweights.
