Fights this Week
Didn't see the fight but read the articles. Past my bedtime. Seemed as though Andrei was out-classed and Alimkhanuly cruised. I think he DID try to shake up his training by staying in OZ leading up to the fight. Like most NZ fighters who lose title chances, he needs to stay in the top ten by fighting top ten fighters until he gets another chance, hopefully with more skill next time around.

Next fighter up with a title chance in Nyika, and of course Parker.

WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball (20-0-1, 11 KOs) and challenger Ronny Rios (34-4, 17 KOs) both made weight for Saturday’s world championship fight at the M&S Bank Arena in Ball’s hometown of Liverpool, England. Ball weighed 125.1 lbs., while Rios scaled in at 125.6 lbs. Ball-Rios will stream live and exclusively on ESPN+ in the U.S. with fights starting at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.

Ball halts Rios, retains WBA featherweight title

Unbeaten WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball (21-0-1, 12 KOs) stopped challenger Ronny Rios (34-5, 17 KOs) in the tenth round on Saturday night at the M&S Bank Arena in Ball’s hometown of Liverpool, England. The aggressive Ball came out throwing hard. He dropped Rios in round three, then battered Rios for the rest of the round. Rios was game and he bloodied Ball’s nose, but Ball’s brutal attack continued. Ball floored Rios again in round ten to end it. Time was 2:06.

Thanks jamieson as I didn't see the fight. That's the worst performance I've seen from Andrei, and I follow his fights. No sharp punches at all, no power, leading from his head and shoulders as he tries to get in close. Give him A for effort, but he was not only outclassed, but he didn't even make it a contest. Alimkhanuly laughed at him the whole fight.

You're welcome. The difference in levels was apparent from very early in the 1st round. Mikhailovich showed tremendous heart but at what cost to his career? I know Bart thinks there was a hand injury, he could be right. I haven't seen any mention of it from Alimkhanuly's team. Maybe it wasn't that serious and he just wanted to preserve it from getting worse. He did say after the fight that he wanted rounds due to his inactivity. He was never in any danger, only causes for concern were potential cuts from the head clashes & mauling. I think most of us agree that Alimkhanuly could ended the fight at any point, so in my opinion he just wanted to put Mikhailovich in his place while getting some rounds in the bag.
