Junior's probably winning this but surely you've also got to be an entertaining fighter to go anywhere in boxing

On the ricky murphy debacle: I swear the Argentine looked two weight divisions higher than Ricky at the weigh in. What a joke NZ boxing is, to out him in with a monster like that after being out for a year. Shane Cameron must be thick. Saying that, the Argentine had previously drawn with a guy with a 6-5 record, so youd expect our next big thing to get past him- but not only did he lose, he lost every round. Really embarrassing for NZ boxing. I don't want to hear about any Kiwi prospects again until they have proved they can beat a club-fighter-level import. I don't rate Fa. Nyika looks entertaining; but seriously someone needs to teach these guys about what it takes to be a great boxer, not how to swing hooks and look cool

Is it just me or could Hunter Sam have snatched a draw out of that fight?

Fa doesn't seem to have that killer instinct, didn't even look that interested

So Fa couldn't put away a guy with a 12-11 record, who was mildly tricky. What are they teaching Fa then, to fight like the other guy will be a stationary target? Come on. Boxing is about thinking and devising an attack plan vs 'tricky' customers, not just fighting using the absolute bare essentials. Making a statement would be knocking a tricky customer out. Labouring to a tight decision means you are okay. Okay wont pay the bills though. And I thought Fa would be up for a Fred Kassi level fighter this yr. No chance against Kassi.

Trust me I'm with you. Yes Sam was tricky who swiched stances a lot but as you said, he should be showing a lot more intent than what he showed tonight. He looked happy labouring to a points victory when he should have looked force the issue from about round 4. He's got a lot to work on before stepping up to Kassi type fighters. |
