AJ/Pulev Sunday - diehard - 12-08-2020

Saturday’s Joshua-Pulev line-up

Here’s the lineup for Saturday’s heavyweight championship card in the SSE Arena, Wembley, England on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and Ireland and on DAZN in the U.S. and more than 200 countries and territories on its just-launched Global platform.
Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21 KOs) defends his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight world titles against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev (28-1, 14 KOs).

Unbeaten cruiserweight Lawrence Okolie (14-0, 11 KOs) will now take on undefeated late sub Nikodem Jezewski (19-0-1, 9 KOs). Okolie was originally slated to face Krzysztof Glowacki for the vacant WBO world title.

Heavyweight Hughie Fury (24-3, 14 KOs) battles Mariusz Wach (36-6, 19 KOs) in a ten rounder.

Heavyweights Martin Bakole (15-1, 12 KOs) and Sergey Kuzmin (15-1, 11 KOs) fight for the vacant WBC International title.
Super welterweight Macaulay McGowan (14-1-1, 3 KOs) will now face Kieron Conway (15-1-1, 3 KOs), after his original opponent Souleymane Cissokho was forced to pull out of their ten-rounder.

Welterweight Florian Marku (7-0, 5 KOs) has an eight round contest with Alex Fearon (9-2)
Super bantamweight Qais Ashfaq (8-1, 3 KOs) meets Ashley Lane (14-9-2, 1 KO)

RE: AJ/Pulev Sunday - bart - 12-09-2020

this one has really snuck up...not the usual AJ hype unless I have missed it

RE: AJ/Pulev Sunday - diehard - 12-09-2020

Yep, it's on DAZN. Even you and Sham can afford $3 a month. Also, I'll check to see if it's on SKY as it gets closer. Yes, it did sneak up on us. Do you think Pulev has a chance? I'd say no, except I thought that with Ruiz.

RE: AJ/Pulev Sunday - bart - 12-09-2020

Yeah Pulev has attributes but WK beat him up petty bad- he was game though.
I think the question is how will AJ fight now he can be hurt by journeyman.. will he fight like he did v Ruiz 2 ?? Tentative and from the outside avoiding too much engagement?? May win but be alot more boring from now on ... if he does Deontay would love to fight him let alone Fury.
I think Pulev has to rough it up and take his chance- a not 100% confident AJ with no 90,000 to lift him.

I used to think AJ was gonna be the next Lennox Lewis, now I think he's more like Frank Bruno. Massively overated.

RE: AJ/Pulev Sunday - diehard - 12-10-2020

Maybe not LL, but you're not giving him enough credit. One loss to Ruiz does not make a career. He looked exceptional against Klit, and he'll be competitive against Fury and Wilder. It's those three, and then everyone else.

RE: AJ/Pulev Sunday - bart - 12-10-2020

They are the top 3 yes but.... out of the 3 AJ looks most like he could be taken out by a lower level fighter, just my opinion.
Its great though makes it more interesting - even Lennox after his 2 KO losses is still an ATG and remember alot of casuals believed Tua would shatter him....

RE: AJ/Pulev Sunday - diehard - 12-10-2020

I don't know. Fury got knocked down by a nobody a several years ago, and Wallin should have stopped him on cuts, a fight Fury was lucky to decision. Wilder got his ass handed to him by Fury and was losing badly to Ortiz before the KO. AJ had looked unstoppable before Ruiz, a top fighter, was able to counter him. I think they are all vulnerable.

I can't see a lower level fighter beating any of those three. Hopefully, 2021 will have them fighting each other.
