Actually, what true boxing fans are saying is that the ref needed to stop the constant hugging.
Give warnings, take points off, etc.
Fa's tactic was a terrible black eye for boxing itself. You cannot call that "boxing"

Rebel kept breaking them up, so there was no wrestling, but he needed to warn both fighters for holding so that we could have had a more exciting fight. BTW, Parker was doing his share of holding late in the fight.

Yeah at the same time Parker should have adapted his game plan. It was the same for 12 rounds. That's what disappointed me - same old same old from Joe over the course of the fight.

Fair enough, MsReef, but a good hugger is hard to stop - unless the ref does it.
However - I agree. Parker does seem to lack the ability to change game-plans.
Always been a problem. Maybe Barry should go??

The fact that the hugging semi-succeeded is the real nightmare. Wlad was good at it too - but at least he went for knockouts. Fa did not.
This is not the sport of "hugging". Don't tell me that is "good boxing".
Look at parker vs whyte fight, both guys exchanged punches all night..thats what we wanted to see, instead the hugging made auckland went back to level3
I hope parker fight chisora next, we will see a diffrent fight coz chisora will not come for a hug..

I got the feeling from the post fight interview that Barry was pretty unhappy with JP's performance.. I dunno....I do wonder if the issue isn't all Barry. Maybe you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Parker has said several times after fights that he didn't implement the things he'd been working on in the gym/sparring. Many times I've heard Barry screaming at JP from the corner to do simple things - double up the jab etc...but Parker often just seems to ignore him.

Fai, Sham died a month or two ago. You guys were great combatants, and I know Sham loved it, knowing who he is.
