Yeah, we just got off the phone with him. He says he feels great, but we’ll see how it goes—packing on that much weight could backfire.

You just got off the phone with Parker? Cool. He didn't look like he gained more muscle from the weigh-in, just a little more fat in the middle. But I've been following his training and he definitely has been working hard in the gym. I'm hoping the muscle/power is distributed throughout his body and it shows up tomorrow.
They were predicting at the weigh-in that Bakole must weigh about 320 pounds. I hope so.

Yeah, Grant—Joe’s former amateur trainer—and I usually try to catch up with him before a fight to see how he’s feeling and wish him luck.

Bakole’s first unofficial weigh-in, fully clothed, came in at 315 pounds.

Excellent. Yeah, I've never met JP but used to know David Higgins fairly well. He's always been good to me, especially in the Tua era. I've lost touch with him over the years as I quit going to the shows and reporting on Eastside. JP is always welcome to come on here and say whatever he wants. You could interview him after the fight online if you wanted. Never got Tua to post, but got his ex-wife many times. Those were the days...she was livid half the time with what was said about Tua.
So, not fully clothed, I give him 310. Not sure how he can even enter the ring as he's said that he hadn't even started training for Adajbe. Will see tomorrow...

RE: Feb 22nd Card - bart - 02-22-2025

Bakole doesn't base his game or prob his training on cardio anyways, he did say he had been training in the UK and has only been in the Congo a short time while sorting a US visa for his Efe Ajagba fight.
So he hasn't just got off the couch but won't be wanting or expecting to go 12
He has fast accurate hands much like ZZ so defence and movement for JP must be on point...and land enough to keep him honest... not a 100 miles away from DD gameplan but a bigger unit to hurt.
Im nervous because its no longer a title fight and they are hard to come by and a loss will make even harder... but the $$ must be great

RE: Feb 22nd Card - diehard - 02-22-2025

Interesting that we/they are basing how good DDD is on the AJ fight and how good Bakole is based on the Anderson. Not saying they weren't good, but certainly not the hype they're getting now.
The biggest difference with DDD and Bakole is that DDD moves better and is the better boxer. Both have power, and Bakole is huge compared to DDD. Both are easy to hit. I want to see if JP can hurt Bakole and stop him with the extra weight and power.
