RE: Fury Usyk Dec 21 - diehard - 10-29-2024 I watched the fight again. Fury did well in the early rounds, clowning around. That wasn't his problem. His problem is that Usyk got his second wind, as he normally does, in the middle of the fight and pulled it out. I've watched heaps of Usyk's fights, and he looks very ordinary until the middle rounds, and then he lays it on. And contrary to the article, Fury looked fit in the later rounds, he just ran into an inspired Usyk. https://www.boxingscene.com/andy-lee-says-there-fewer-voices-greater-clarity-tyson-furys-corner-on-december-21--186702 RE: Fury Usyk Dec 21 - bart - 10-29-2024 Yip I think Fury plans to go hard early this time- no clowning going for KO on the basis that he either feels or has been told he hurt Usyk 2 things can happen with this strategy.. 1: it works and Fury overpowers Usyk and get more likely a TKO than a KO 2: Usyk evades and rides the storm leaving Fury exhausted and vulnerable - himself being stopped at the Mercey of the ref mid to late I really think Usyk is too elite for No1 to happen RE: Fury Usyk Dec 21 - diehard - 10-29-2024 Just saw the Fury/Klit fight again. Klit couldn't keep his shape, as Fury completely confused and upset his rhythm. Usyk will keep it in tight and look for openings. I think, in your scenario, if Fury goes for it early he gets stopped early. Usyk doesn't have a KO punch but he can hurt you and follow up for a TKO. The other problem for Fury if he goes for it early is that he can't take a punch well, and Usyk will find openings in Fury's wild, long shots. So what should Fury do? He really dominated the first half of the fight, clowning, hitting, and frustrating Usyk. At some point, he needs to go for it when he lands a good shot. Wait too long, and Usyk will take over in the middle rounds. RE: Fury Usyk Dec 21 - bart - 10-29-2024 I think Fury has to pace himself by taking centre of the ring and using his jab to keep Usyk off him- Usyk moves well as we know and gets into a rhythm so when he does Fury must tie him up and lean on him. Uppercuts on the inside not from distance. Trouble is Usyk is like a master computer and will source software to nullify this pretty quickly so constant adaptations by Fury must be made as the fight progresses... Fury is a high level boxing brain but Usyk is elite so hoping he lands a telling shot rather than planning is his best chance.....although if he does he will say it went to plan lol RE: Fury Usyk Dec 21 - jamieson2 - 10-29-2024 I felt Fury had success from rounds 4 to 7 when he was letting his hands go. The problem for Fury was Usyk worked out that when Tyson throws more than one punch at a time (something he doesn't like to do often) his chin is left up in the air with his hands down. Usyk started throwing when Fury was punching & because Fury's chin was exposed Usyk was catching & hurting him. If Fury doesn't let his hands go he gets outworked. If Fury lets his hands go he leaves his chin exposed. Usyk started throwing when Fury was punching & because Fury's chin was exposed Usyk was catching & hurting him. That's Fury's conundrum. Fury just needs to do what he did in the first half of the fight, and when he gains an advantage he needs to lean on him, uppercuts, combos, and go for it. Usyk was in dire trouble leading into the middle rounds, and then he found inspiration from his corner. That happens in virtually every fight I've seen with him, either cruiser or heavy. Chisora? did ok with him until the middle rounds. RE: Fury Usyk Dec 21 - jamieson2 - 10-30-2024 I had Usyk winning the early rounds & Fury having success from the 4th to the seventh. It took Usyk a few rounds to work out to punch with him. Usyk has always been known to start slow & come on late. I just hope we get another classic & Fury doesn't try to spoil & stink out the joint. Unfortunately Fury has to spoil and stink out the place to have any chance...if it becomes a boxing match he loses - that's how I see it. People forget that before the Wilder trilogy which were great spectacles Fury was involved in many stinkers and of course he won them, so I see him reverting to that style to try nullify Usyk. RE: Fury Usyk Dec 21 - jamieson2 - 10-30-2024 That's how I see Fury approaching the rematch. I hope I'm wrong. RE: Fury Usyk Dec 21 - diehard - 10-30-2024 Just saw the Fury/Wilder rematch. I didn't think that Fury "stunk it up" at all. He looked really good against an average boxer in Wilder. Of course, the busted eardrum was Wilder's downfall. Fury is at his best when he's throwing punches from all angles, long range, uppercuts up close, clowns around, lays on them, etc. In martial arts parlance, he's does monkey style. Confuses and frustrates his opponent. It certainly worked on Usyk until Usyk decided to fight his fight, stay in close, look for openings, and then the left down the pike. I don't know what Fury has up his sleeve, but Usyk better not start slow. As Usyk says, the rematch starts at round 13, not round one. |
