Jr has a long way to go before thinking about title fights and I'm sure his team know that too. He needs to go through gatekeeper level first and slowly go up in competition from there. Look at Izu Ugonoh, took the Breazeale fight far too early and has now virtually gone into oblivion.
I don't think he took the Breazeale fight too early, unless you count his inability to pace himself. Izu is a major disappointment. Should have come back right after the loss, fought a Flores type of fighter, won well, and get back into the thick of it against a top ten opponent. He's as good as Parker. At least he was. Instead, he got rid of Mr Higgins, KB, Vegas, went to Poland and became inactive for more than a year.
I agree. Jr is a couple of years away from a title fight if he keeps winning. His next fight should be a gatekeeper (like you say) or an up and comer in the top ten. Time to step up now that his body and health is ok.
Barry his usual classless self. If this fight happens it needs to be 2-3 years down the line. Right now Junior needs to keep winning and stepping up levels
A win against Fa now does nothing for Parker
Maybe Jnr could target fighting Izu in NZ at some point later on this year. That's a fight that would sell. Attractive for both caps and setting up a Parker vs Fa too (assuming Jnr won)
