I'd take the 5-1 odds and Kovalev. He's still got some power, and I don't rate Canelo as untouchable. He does get hit. Sure, it's Canelo's fight to win, but at one point Kovalev was untouchable. We'll see if he has anything left.

I agree, Alvarez fighting style is to bully opponents. Kovalev won't be bullied.

Canelo, Kovalev Quick Quotes

Here are some quotes from Canelo Alvarez and Sergey ‘Krusher’ Kovalev on their November 2 WBO light heavyweight world title fight in Las Vegas.

Canelo Alvarez: “The second phase of my career is continuing just as we had planned, and that’s why we are continuing to make great fights to enter into the history books of boxing. That’s also why I’ve decided to jump two weight classes against one of the most feared champions of recent years. Kovalev is a dangerous puncher, and he’s naturally the bigger man, but that’s the kind of challenges and risks that I like to face.”

Sergey Kovalev: “In order to be the best you have to beat the best. I have always tried to fight the toughest opponents in my division, but many have ducked me throughout my career. Canelo wanted to fight me; to step up to higher weight and challenge for my belt. I will be ready on November 2nd.”
Next Sunday 29 September Erroll Spence takes on Shawn Porter in an IBF/WBC welterweight unification bout in LA. It will be live on Sky Arena from 2pm ($34.95). Like most I am picking Spence to use his height and reach advantage to box his way to a decision but Porter is a tough fighter and Spence certainly won't have it all his way like he did against Mikey Garcia.
Thanks for posting that, nullanulla. I am away in Sydney that weekend, but maybe OZ will have it free to air, but I doubt it. Your analysis is spot on. I do think that Spence will score a stoppage, mainly because Porter is so aggressive. It'll be a great fight.

It is on Fox Sports 5 in Australia from 11AM next Sunday, not free to air but if you're staying in a hotel you may be able to get it or alternatively here is a list of venues that are advertised as having it on, if you would like a cold beer and lunch with your boxing!: http://www.gameonlivesports.com.au Just key in the suburb or postcode of the area you are staying and away you go!
Thank you. I'm in Sydney for the league final, Storm/Roosters. Mrs D is "taking" me to the Captain's lounge at the SCG. But that's Saturday night. And with nothing to do Sunday afternoon...
Good on Mrs D! Sounds like a great occasion, I am very envious. Who are you going for, Storm or Chooks?
Going for the Storm, both our favourites. But we'll be at the Roosters lounge, so we'll have a purple hankie in our pockets while wearing something dark blue. I figure this was gonna be the grand finals, but instead just the finals. Of course, our favourite team is the Warriors. Saw them last year against the Panthers at ANZ? A dud performance.
