Maybe Berridge got a training injury or something
Hopefully that is the case. This fight was originally set down for the 1st July at the ABA on Andrew Higgins Card. Possibly David had a word with Andrew - if that was the case I wonder how much he paid his brother lol.
Without this or the Berridge fight the card it very second class and a struggle to be worth $50.00.
This card could have done with junior fa vs a known journeyman
I spoke with Stu about getting Nik to fight Berridge, but he didn't think Nik would be interested. Yeah, Junior Fa would have been good. How about also borrowing Hemi from brother Andrew if his hand was all right? Also mentioned Sam Rapira vs Berridge, but he thought Sam was injured.
I hear this card is on ppv in oz? I know its easy to say these things when you are not paying the bills but why not a couple of fights like the below to make it interesting for NZ fans and get some more buys in oz.

Wills Meehan v Nathan McKay on paper a step up from some of the terrible matches Meehan has had but still should be a win if he shows his best.

Junior Fai v Dylan Goddard same as above.
Neither fight would cost the earth and shouldn't be too hard to make. Yes it would cost more but if Duco want to put on more cards in oz surely it would pay off.

Duco could have found an Ozzie on the cheap to bring over for Adrian Taihia. Presuming Taihia gets past Joshua Tai and John Roil in upcoming bouts there are decent fights Duco could make with Taihia v Berridge, Taihia v Papuni, Tahia v Nik, Taihia v Smokin Joe and Taihia v Jordan Tai. Surely a small investment now would pay off with a main undercard bout that would help sell an average Parker card when he has a couple of tune ups if he wins on Saturday night.

Sure it would cost a bit of money now but has the potential to make them more in the long run and given the always talk about expanding into different markets it would make sense wouldn't it?

I guess there response would be their market of casuals and Parker bandwaggoners don't care for the undercard its just about putting the tin of fruit on for a night and hon knobbing  becoming a boxing expert for the night

Great news to see young Nik "The Greek" stepping up and going in against Kwadjo on the Parker Takam undercard. That has made my day and definitely swung me to fork out $50.00 on Saturday night PPV.
The current NZ Light Heavyweight division would have to be the toughest and most evenly matched at present. Plenty of great future match-ups to look forward to.
Not happy about the undercard, but not sad either. Although I wanted more fights (8?), I would be impatiently waiting for the main event. I'm thinking, "come on, get these undercards over with!" The match-ups aren't the best, but not the worst either. And no circus acts! Wonderful. Although you could argue the case about Butterbean.

All in all, really excited about Parker. Hope he does well.

I totally agree Diehard, unfortunately with Duco this was possibly the best we could have ever get in the way of an undercard.
So Berridge says he wasn't getting paid...

Due to a neck injury sustained last week I have had to regrettably pull out of tomorrow night's fight. Obviosuly I'm extremely gutted that I can not fight as I've been training hard and love getting in the ring. This fight however has been hard to come about as DUCO were refusing to pay us making myself and the team having to fork out the cash for the opponent's purse, flights and accomadation. With this I was also not getting paid and with a new family this was hard to take on. I feel like I did well in my years with DUCO and to be treated like this was disappointing, and then to find out on Tuesday that funds have been "found" to put the fight on with a new opponent for Joesph. However the team and I will not give up and will keep the fights coming. #TEAMBUTCHER
