Joseph Parker

Whether he and KB can rise to better status than that is up to them. It is their gig. Two guys form an alliance to do something in their lives together a business proposition or whatever theyou rise and fall in how they conduct their stuff, right or wrong it is their gig. As much as we think of either of these two guys the outcome falls on them and of course it is all so very public. Jo wants to defy the odds and beat these guys in the best way possible to accomplish what he began where he was 1st noticed, for his own and family honor and cash box of course. KB'S standing and personal fame is at stake as well, you can see it all in the anxiety and strain he is under when the opposition to Jo is dangerous. I feel for these guys, to go with all the fame and glory and wellwishing comes the fear of failure which is not a small thing and can also bring their health down for impact as they go further. They will be criticism hugely for any mistakes for in boxing every man and his dog is an expert. They get slandered because they did dare to do something where some of us other mortals do not have equilibrium nous or temerity. This is their gig to either make or break.
Duco are another side of the coin altogether, they are there for the money, of course it is a business.. and so far in this venture have made their fortunes off gullible New Zealanders like you and me, and for as long as it's worth they will become millionaires off us, if we let them. Sure it's not required to remember all the fights we suffered with mediocre undercards and 1st round knockouts by the master...but then we are canceled out by small venues high priced ticket sales and ppv costs after paying for installing. It gets done the way they want it because we go with it. KB and JP need money to proceed true, but not at the cost of ordinary NZs being ostricised. They didn't do that in Samoa, what about bigger venues and drop in entry fees....? and more ppv appointments at affordable prices. . We can all get a look.

Great post, Sham! Infern0, do you think Duco (aka Lonergan) helps or hurts Parker standing in the world of boxing? I know he does in NZ, but KB did the same thing with Tua, except he focussed on the fighter he wanted Tua to fight instead of making grand claims like "he's the next Ali." Course that was the Colonel, but Lonergan doesn't shy away from comments like this.

I think Parker needs someone like Lonergan to market for him, but I definitely see it as grating. Imagine how Parker must feel, and the expectation, on hearing this crap.

KB was definitely a used car salesman with Tua. I think he's reigned it in somewhat.

Well if I was parker, now that he's IBF mandatory he should be looking out for #1, and he's a big asset now.

If I was him I'd be looking at the saurlands for promotion, they can get him on big cards in Europe and they have a good relationship with hearn.

As far as trainers, not sure. Kevin Barry is OK despite how I think of him as a person, and there aren't many great heavyweight trainers out there.

Adam booth? Shane mcguigan? These guys could do well for joe .

But promotion is the main thing.

Someone on boxingscene made a point the other day that Duco are going to end up getting played off the table soon anyway in terms of joes career, once he starts fighting on big promotions overseas. I think once parker sits down with hearn at the match room offices he's going to realize that lonegran is small town and that'll be the end of that relationship.

Except that Duco will tag along as part of the promotion. Sure it must be in the contract with Parker. And KB is attached to Duco. And Mr Higgins and JP are very close. One big happy family right now. Of course, those promoters you mentioned could buy out Duco. I think Duco sold his promotion of Tua to those blonde boyz in California. Can't remember their names.

But my question was: do you think Lonergan's loud mouth helps JP on the world scene? Would he have gotten the same promotions and opponents?

I don't think it makes a difference.

Parker was noticed by boxing fans for his early performances, and after the weekends fight all that's happened is people laugh at lonergans stuff.

Parker doesn't suit trash talk or anything, he is in the same spot he would have been regardless.

Hes similar to Hughie fury in personality. Neither guy is going to be known for stuff outside the ring.

Some of that crap is rubbing off on Jo too, KB isn't clean either.. Lonergans mouth poisons the cake. Can't be a desired project especially when Parker isnt exactly what they claim. Well not yet anyway.

Joe is starting to believe the hype.

Joes last fight should have been the reality check he needed then

Nigs, why do you think he's starting to believe the hype.  He's always come across on the telly as a humble man.  Also said he made a lot of mistakes against Takam, and needs to go back to the gym.  Doesn't sound like a man who believes he's something he's not.

Really nice article on Whyte, and his future plans:

Die, I'm not nigs of course but I think nigs is referring to some of the things now coming out of Jo's mouth, like calling Takam scared and some other things like that which strip him (Jo) of the humble appeal..
