Joseph Parker

Tupou would be a perfect opponent at the moment.

Thanks diehard, appreciate the welcome.

Cheers Shamrock - will certainly say gidday should paths cross.

gothenaki - like that list you posted and you are so right - 'He's only young, and has plenty of time..'

Joseph is an apprentice in the world of professional heavyweight boxing. Duco need to grasp this fact. Their hype and outright BS regarding Parker's opponents, his world rankings and eventual title shot run the risk of undermining the credibility of Parker's campaign. The mention of an even higher ranking if he can - beat his toughest opponent to date - German Heavyweight Champion (oh boy!) - say no more..

Duco will be looking in the mirror shortly as they get to grips with a significant drop off in pay per view customers. Credibility is everything.

Instead of the bs contender this and challenger that Duco should;

1. Find the best coach possible to impart the skills he desperately needs.
2. Match him with creditable older pros - previous champs (national/international) and contenders. These guys should take Parker more than 7 rounds whilst providing a playground for him to hone his skills.
3. Turn off the spotlight. Acknowledge his potential. Pledge to carry him through his apprenticeship.
4. Never talk nor publicize rankings. Never world title this world title that.
5. Focus only on the next opponent.
6. Place Joseph first - do not use him as a revenue stream - ever.

Shamrock - on the home page of your boxing club web site is a quote from The King - paraphrased it reads '..champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision..'

Ali is right. Greatness is borne from within.

Now while Duco are managing 1 through 6 Joseph needs to seed, nourish and nurture greatness within. Several times. Daily.
He needs to be aware of the creative forces he harbors within and how to apply them.
This practice is as important as gymwork and will birth a Champion if simply applied as a matter of course.

It's late!

great points....couple of things, KB won't let go, so number 1 is a long shot. and number 6 left the station some time ago.

I don't see a need to replace Barry, he's done OK so far.

I hope Joseph has some good financial advisers that aren't part of the Duco stable though.

Duco doesn't hype, folks don't buy PPV. Gotta do the hype, whether it's in Baby Joseph's best interest or not.

Duco HAS been pitting him against national and international veterans. And he's been putting them away. Minto, Sherman Williams, Botha, this fella Saglam.

I DO like what KB and Duco are doing with Parker. But it's not just Duco who talks about his greatness. Colonel Bob has him with Ali!

The main thing I agree with you on, Veritas, is what he needs to do to improve his boxing skills, which was in another post previously. Spot on. Not sure KB can do that for him, so we'll see. I nominate Shamrock! Old school. And, he needs to lift some weights, develop some arms and pecs. My old, crippled muscley self is almost as big as he is.

Veritas, its way too late all six points are outdated, Jo is a cash and limelight cow already for KB as well as duco. Kevin hasnt brought anyone into the spotlight from scratch since he began coaching and its only ok with Jo while hes fighting 'never heard of befores', but when they step out of that zone the cookie might well crumble. But to be fair while KB has shown limitations to date he may be learning from some of the top coaches and boxing persona he's rubbing shoulders with as he gets Jo around the gyms in the States, whether Jo has the apple to go from all the hype and bullshit (rankings and world champion projections) to greatness is anyones guess.

True Sham. Outdated. The horse has left the barn. I'm not saying Baby Joseph is or is not all that. It's a wait and see proposition as he fights better competition. I personally think he's not ready for top ten yet. Let's get the Pettaway's and Saglam's outta the way first as he improves his skills.

KB has had him sparring with Stiverne and Klit now, so even though it's sparring, it should give KB some idea of what he's capable of. Duco is right. Saglam is his toughest opponent to date. It would have been Minto, but we all know what happened there.

With all due respect diehard, Saglam is a fill-in opponent whose career has been carved from community halls and undercards.
He is not a main event fighter nor has faced anyone of note - gothenaki shared the calibre of his recent opponents - underwhelming.
The Butterbean would beat Saglam and I honestly think that's an even match. Duco have scrambled to lock in an opponent to meet THEIR schedule.
The fight does not serve Parker and he is better off working hard in the gym to improve his game. Duco, likewise should be working hard to secure appropriate opponents..
I feel sorry for Joseph that he has to partake in this circus.. this fight will not improve him.. contrary, just reinforce his bad habits..

Older contenders..Minto, Sherman Williams, Botha - cool, all good matches.. now Duco should work through the issues and nut out a fight with Kali Meehan.
Meehan has experience, skills, is low risk but Parker will have to bring more to the table to deal with him.. he should improve from the experience.
Duco need to hand pick opponents then build an event not, schedule events THEN ship in patsies.

Just quickly - Colonel Bob is paid to wax lyrical on the prospects of Parker. Duco fly him in, KB is a buddy and it's all very cosy.. his rich, sugar-coated lavishment of Parker and KB is too much.. same league as Ali - say no more!

Shamrock, I agree with your comment and accept that my list is a dream of the Veritas way - reality is very different.

We all want Joseph to be World Heavyweight Champion - that is the only reason I am writing on this blog. I have no issue with anyone in his camp but, I'm compelled to share my concerns as I see them.

I appreciate KB is locked in (cosy with Duco) and Parker's record (you're right Shamrock - mostly bums) essentially assures his position..But..
It would be in Parker's ultimate interest for Duco to commission 3 independent proven pro coaches to assess Parker, his strengths, weaknesses, areas of improvement.
Do a report card. Ask KB to so the same.
Then, compare KB's subjective view with the 3 independent objective views..

Duco don't know boxing. All their eggs rest on KB's judgement. After two years in training with KB Joseph is still guilty of novice mistakes. I am concerned.

Great finish Veritas and we all may worry about Jo's advancement and righting the wrongs. I'm concerned it's mostly about the money with the mob and just waiting for punters coin to run out. Jo's not going anywhere at present and as Veritas suggested...it doesn't get better.

Veritas, you're a breath of fresh air. Keep posting mate.

Duco have been hoodwinking the public for months at the expense of real boxers and strugglers. Local talent other than Jo have to step up way too far to get on flamboyant cards, or else the favoured are well undermatched. The public are waking up and we wait for the fat lady to sing.
