Interesting info on boxrec, looks like there may have been a reason to not fight Trent Broadhurst... Berridge fighting Powdrill who knocked out Damien Hooper in round 1.
Only one month after Robinson fight which is probably a good thing given Robinson should be any easy night date opponent W-L-D last 6 location tickets 2015-05-23 Rob Powdrill 5(1)-1-0 Kingsway Indoor Stadium, Madeley, Western Australia, Australia 12 0412 081 063 vacant International Boxing Organization Inter-Continental light heavyweight title bout subject to change & commission approval 2015-04-25 Andrew Robinson 4(2)-2-0 Springvale Stadium, Wanganui, New Zealand 10 akiwaevents@hotmail.com vacant International Boxing Organization Oceania light heavyweight title (supervisor: Steve Scott) New Zealand Professional Boxing Association (NZPBA) light heavyweight title bout subject to change & commission approval Lb St Kg | ↑date↓ | ratings off on | print

Just checked out boxrec JF, looks like a tough assignment for the butcher. Guy just went 12 rounds at cruiserweight... If you haven't checked out the youtube clip of the Hooper fight its worth a look.

Yea mate have watched that Hooper clip many times, he's got some power!
I know he beat Hopper, but still think it is a high risk for little reward fight. Despite the fact that Powdril is an animal a loss to him will not look good. Gottta give Berridge some real credit for taking it. I reckon he will get a lot of support in Perth, a heap of Kiwis there will get behind him. Would love to see him win which should get him closer to a rematch with Blake Caparello. Would still love to see Berridge v Adrian Taihia when he gets out of the holiday home too...

I think Rapira is a champion bloke who has done a lot for the sport and will continue to do so. Him and his brother seem to do some great work in the community and they deserve every bit of celebration they are given.
In the ring however, i think he will continue to fight the likes of the guys he fought on the weekend until he steps up and gets out powered and out classed again. Papuni is a good prospect but he's beaten nobody and he bet Rapira with ease... I hope I'm wrong as like I said he's a great guy but i don't see much of a future for Rapira outside NZ. Anyone else got any thoughts??? Like I said I'd love to be proved wrong but just not feeling it... http://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-news/sport/67861691/sam-rapira-thrills-hometown-fans-with-title-win |
