Looks like Fujimoto is Dubois's best opponent, as he's ranked #15. Don't like these guys ranked so highly and not have fought anyone. Here's another one for you. Romanov has never fought outside of Russia, and nobody even remotely close to top 15. And he's ranked WBO #8.

Marco Huck vs. Joe Joyce is off
The January 11 showdown between Marco “Kapt’n” Huck (41-5, 28 KOs) and Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce (10-0, 9 KOs) for the European heavyweight title at the TUI Arena in Hannover, Germany, is off after Huck was injured while training last Saturday. “During sparring, I unfortunately cracked my right metacarpal,” said Huck. “If you do contact sports, unfortunately something like that can happen.” The Huck team will try to reschedule the bout on a later date.

Anthony Joshua Says Wilder Showdown Should Take Place In UK
James Slater - December 31, 2019 Warren Urges Joshua To Give Up Belts And Fight Wilder-Fury Winner Next Top British promoter Frank Warren, like the rest of us, wants to see, once and for all, who is the number-one heavyweight on the planet. Warren obviously feels his man Tyson Fury is the best – now he wants a massive showdown with Anthony Joshua to take place so as Fury can prove it to everyone else. To this end, Warren has urged Joshua to give up his two belts, the IBF and the WBO, so he doesn’t have to take up 2020 with mandatory defences against Kubrat Pulev and Oleksandr Usyk. Warren, speaking IFL TV, said if he were Joshua he would “let them strip me of my titles” and fight the Fury-Wilder II winner next. It’s the fight the public wants to see, Warren correctly states. Naturally Warren feels Fury will defeat Wilder on February 22, but Joshua, who also talked with IFL TV, spoke about a potential showdown with Wilder and how it should be staged in the UK, not in the US. “80,000 people or an arena that can hold 15,000 elsewhere? It makes sense to have it here [in the UK],” Joshua said. “That’s probably what’s holding it up, we want it here. Obviously there’s broadcasters, but we have to look at what makes sense for the division. Sometimes you’ve got to go across the pond to make it work.” Hopefully, with a clear winner between Wilder and Fury in February, we will be one big step closer to either a Fury-Joshua clash or a Wilder-Joshua clash; wherever the fight happens. Really, either fight would be bigger than mere belts, so maybe Joshua would be smart to do as Warren suggests. Things will get complicated, however, if Wilder and Fury box to another close, debatable or controversial fight in their return – another draw for instance. That would likely mean a Wilder-Fury III. In that case, Joshua would naturally get busy fulfilling his mandatory obligations. As Warren said, we should all wait and see what happens on February 22. Wilder is promising a KO win this time (“I knocked that fool out last time,” he said). While Fury has vowed to make Wilder “quit.” It’s the biggest confirmed fight for 2020, and everyone will be watching to see what happens when Wilder and Fury meet again, at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Adam Kownacki Lists Three Possible Names For His March Return: Breazeale, Joyce, Hammer
James Slater - January 4, 2020 As fight fans may have read, unbeaten Polish slugger Adam Kownacki, for some the most exciting heavyweight contender out there today, will have his first fight of the new year on March 7th. Once again, Kownacki will fight at The Barclays Centre in New York. But who might his dance partner be? Top boxing scribe Michael Woods asked Kownacki, 20-0(15) who he might be facing in his first fight back after that thriller of a decision win over Chris Arreola in August. Kownacki gave Woods three names: “We should lock someone in the next couple of weeks,” Kownacki said. “It will be someone from the top 20. I wouldn’t mind beating up Dominic Breazeale for all the s**t he’s been talking. After the Wilder knockout I thought he would learn to be humble. Guess some cats never learn. I heard Christian Hammer’s name being mentioned. Sam Jones, the manager of Joe Joyce, keeps bringing up my name.” Of these three, obviously a fight between Kownacki and unbeaten Brit Joyce is the most appealing, if the most unlikely. Talks are underway for Joyce to get it on with fellow British banger Daniel Dubois, so if there is real progress there Kownacki will be looking elsewhere. Is there really any appeal in a Kowancki-Breazeale fight? Maybe, but after what Wilder did to Breazeale, maybe not. Taking a guess, I think it will be Hammer who Kownacki fights in March. The Romanian-German is available, he is experienced and he is quite highly ranked. In compiling his 25-6(15) record, Hammer has been in with some big names, testing a few of them – Tyson Fury and Alexander Povetkin (in a dull affair that went the distance), Hammer scoring wins over David Price and Erkan Teper. As he continues on his march to a shot at a world title, Kownacki would pick up rounds by fighting the durable (stopped thrice) Hammer. Or maybe Kownacki will end up fighting someone else entirely. Either way, it will be good to see the rough and tumble Polish warrior back in action. |
