WBC orders Breazeale-Whyte interim title bout
The WBC Board of Governors has voted unanimously to order an interim title in the heavyweight division under the WBC rules and regulations guidelines and protocols. Mandatory challenger Dominique Breazeale and WBC silver champion Dillian Whyte have been told to commence negotiations and if there is no agreement between the parties, a purse bid will be held at WBC headquarters in Mexico City on March 19. With WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury headed toward a direct rematch, this ruling provides activity in the heavyweight division and addresses the rights of Breazeale as mandatory challenger.
