Good to see Tyson Fury back... Smile

Just saw the Ortiz/Martz fight. Ortiz looked great. Moved well and in great shape. Admittedly, Martz wasn't much, but I give him an even chance against Wilder. Just as much power, moves as well, and has better boxing skills.

I can't quite work out why Wilder is so keen to fight Ortiz. I suspect no one else is.
Sure - he's ancient. But he's undefeated as a pro. Go back and watch that Jennings fight. Jennings actually caught him with some good shots on the inside, but they had ZERO effect. Ortiz adapted, and started dancing! That's the Ortiz that will show up. An incredibly experienced fighter, who has never been hurt

Ortiz is listed as 38 or so and theres rumors he's actually 45 or older. To my eye his footspeed seems to have diminished quite a bit, he still has good hands and power but im not sure how mobile he will be.

I really dont rate wilder but to me if ortiz is as slow on his feet as i think he may be, then it becomes a winnable fight for wilder. But if Ortiz is mobile and can get into range then wilder is done for imo.

It's a shame with ortiz though because he's at the stage he could turn old overnight literally any day now. Same with povetkin, these guys might have one great win left in them but neither of them is going to be on top in 18-24 months time.

Infern0, I would have agreed with you until I saw the Martz fight. His footspeed is fine, and he won't need it with Wilder, unless he plods like he did before. Did you see the Martz fight?

Good fight. I'll check Sky Pop Up to see if it's on this weekend.

Povetkin punches ticket to Joshua fight
By Przemek Garczarczyk at ringside

WBA #2, WBO #6, IBF #12 rated former WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (33-1, 23 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over WBO #1, WBA #3, IBF #4 Christian Hammer (22-5, 12 K0s) on Friday night at the DIVS, Ekaterinburg, Russia. Former Olympic gold medalist Povetkin pressed the action and generally got the best of it. Hammer was deducted a point for holding in round seven. In the end, scores were 120-107, 120-108, 118-108.

The bout was for the WBO International and WBA Intercontinental belts, plus Povetkin promoter Andrey Ryabinskiy stated, “I have confirmation from WBA that Anthony Joshua must fight the Povetkin-Hammer winner.”

Anyone see the povetkin fight? Was expecting a stoppage, is this povetkin off meldonium less dangerous?

Povetkin off peds is still a beast, but on peds is a monster.
I hope the wba mandates AJ to face him, I don't like Parker's chances.
