Officials for Usyk-Dubois named

Cordero Officials are set for the August 26 clash between WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and WBA regular champion Daniel Dubois, taking place at the Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw, Poland. The referee will be Luis Pabón (Puerto Rico). Judges are the venerable Stanley Christodolau (South Africa), Pawlo Kardyna (Poland), and Leszek Jankowiak (Poland). Usyk is currently running as about a 12:1 favorite.

Usyk a 10:1 favorite against Dubois
Lots of interesting heavyweight fights this weekend. WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is a whopping 10:1 favorite to defeat WBA regular champion Daniel Dubois on Saturday in this week’a big fight at the Stadion Wroclaw in Wrocław, Poland. ESPN+ will show the bout in the U.S. Meanwhile, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma, WBO #5, WBA #7, WBA #7, IBF #15 Jared Anderson is 30:1 to defeat Andriy Rudenko, WBC #14 heavyweight Efe Ajagba versus WBC #9, WBA #14 Zhan Kossobutskiy is a pick-em, and 2020 Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist Bakhodir Jalolov is 50:1 to defeat Onoriode Ehwarieme. ESPN will air these bouts in the U.S.

David Price: Dubois is Made For Usyk, He's The Perfect Opponent
Olympic bronze medal winner David Price views mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois as having the perfect style for unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Dubois will challenge Usyk for the WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA titles on Saturday night in Poland. Usyk is coming off back to back decision wins over former champion Anthony Joshua. Dubois, who healed up a knee injury, saw action in December when he stopped Kevin Lerena in the third round. The sole defeat on Dubois' record came at the hands of Joe Joyce in 2020. In the tenth round, Dubois took a knee - for the full count - after suffering a fractured orbital bone. He's won four fights in a row since. While Price is giving Dubois a puncher's chance in the contest, he certainly views Usyk as the big favorite. "Well, I think Usyk is an example of someone who has had to take the big cake for that fight because at the end of the day he’s fulfilling his mandatory obligations against a dangerous fighter in Dubois. In Tyson Fury’s case for example, would he have picked Dubois as an opponent, as a voluntary opponent? Probably not," Price told Betway. "And as far as the fight goes, I think that Dubois is made for Usyk - stylistically, he’s the perfect type of opponent. He’s not very quick on his feet, he's an explosive, massive puncture who's always going to have a punch’s chance, but for someone like Usyk who's so nimble and so mobile… I think he’ll bamboozle Dubois. Also, he’ll probably be exhausted later on in the fight because he’ll be having to move that much and react to everything that Usyk is throwing his way, and that takes energy away from you, but whilst Usyk will be landing often, we all know it only takes one punch and Dubois has that power to land a devastating blow. "So, I always try and look at both sides of the argument. Because you know, Derek Chisora pushed Usyk in a very tough fight, and although Dubois is a different type of fighter, boy can he punch. So, although I’d have to say that Usyk is the favorite for me going into the fight due to the stylistic match up, I do think that Dubois could turn out to be a potential banana skin for Usyk due to his punching power."
