Here's Stu's explanation on facebook:
Stuart Duncan Yes we were approached but rejected the fight for a number of reasons with the primary reason being Jeff is still on a 6 week break in the USA - Spence is one of the hardest fights out there and if Jeff was to face him he would need a 10 - 12 week camp to prepare properly. We dont want Jeff to get a world title shot - we want him to win a world title .. fighting Spence underdone would be a bad move in his teams opinion. Spence has a whole lot more experience than Jeff and we feel Jeff is 4 or 5 fights away from taking him on at this stage. There are many routes to a world title shot in this day and age - Jeff will have a few more fights polishing his skills and getting a few more rounds under his belt .. if the right opportunity beckons we will seize it .. for now we bide our time.
