Asian icon Many Pacquiao visited Japan to attend the World Basketball Conference here as a Congressman in order to invite the Word Cup event to his home country Philippines, and received an interview by our fight scribes in Tokyo on Thursday.
Q: How about your right shoulder after the surgery?
A: (Rotating his shoulder) I can lift my shoulder like this. No problem any longer.
Q: You are called “Asian hero” and greatly respected even here in Japan.
A: I truly appreciate your people’s respects to me.
Q: How do you review your fight with Mayweather this May?
A: He was running away all the time. I was making the fight by stalking him and believe that I deserved a victory.
Q: What’s your plan from now on?
A: I’d like to concentrate my efforts on working as a politician this year, and want to fight Mayweather in a rematch. I’ll be ready for that mentally and physically next year. I’ll show a better performance against him than in the first encounter.”
Q: What do you think on the Mayweather-Berto bout in September?
A: It will be a good fight as Andre Berto is fast and strong.
Pacman, one of the Philippine representatives therein, departed from Japan on Friday after giving us a good impression with his humbleness.
