Joseph Parker

I'm wondering if the commentary had any influence. I can only call it the way I saw it. Dennys for breaky then heading home so I will have another watch later tonight. Everyone in the arena was worried by what they were seeing. Takam should have sat down between rounds. Bad mistake and he may have had more left in the last couple of rounds.

If anything I was more disappointed with Takams performance, Parker is new and was expected to struggle in parts but Takam with his experience and being in his prime should of cleaned Farker... but he couldn't because he himself was gased and I believe his early tactics of staying out of range didn't do him any favours. It wasn't till mid rounds he started coming forward but by then he lacked stamina to finish.

Yeah I have no idea why he stood up between rounds, that was gamesmanship but it was stupid.

Takam was kind of low energy, but he's been in a lot of wars lately and he's 36 and fights a young mans style, maybe he's just on the downside of his peak now?

He was never bothered by Parkers power and Joe spend large portions of the fight wandering backwards to the ropes with his hands down and takam just ambled after him not really doing anything.

Poor from both really, but this was supposed to be a joseph parker showcase, so that's why i'm more dissapointed with him.

I watched the fight with 9-10 casuals live last night and all of them were unimpressed by Joe tbh, he done himself no favors but it might be good because it takes off some expectations.

Love my Denny's breakfast! I ate there when I went to the Tua vs Barrett II fight. I was definitely worried, and thought Joe was going to get knocked out in the middle rounds, especially from the 5th on. Huge kudo's for him gutting it out against a top contender. This will only help him. 12 rounds in the bank against a top opponent. As KB and JP said after the fight, lots to work on. No hurry. Take some medium fights like Dupokus? like AJ is doing in fighting Beazeale upcoming.

Yeah a lot of boxers actually thought Takam won (and not just the ones like Junior Fa who was in takams camp). I just saw it as a good close fight but would have been shocked had it gone the frenchmans way. How was the overall night though mate? Worth the dough? I lovedNik the Greeks post fight ring interview. 'I lost that fight' and 'he should have got the decision'. You dont hear that honesty very much in boxing nowadays. I know some very well respected boxing people who think Nik still won that fight, i cant see it myself I had 3 rounds all but with the knockdown 57-56 Kwadjo.

I thought Niks reaction after the fight was one of the highlights of the night " Interview the other guy hes the winner" . Good on him , Nik looked underdone with the short notice,  I thought Kwadjo won

Buttabean losing to a young novice was a pleasing result. Its all about helping people lose weight now ..gimme a break .
Its embarrassing that Duco champion a guy to fight beginners every fight on a big stage . Oh well.

The people I watched the fight with thought Takam won . I actually thought my bet on a draw was a good chance for a minute .

Josephs inexperience at world level got exposed but its probably the best case scenario for it to happen how it did.
He showed heart and found a way to win it
The reality check showed him he still has a lot to learn but hes young enough to still improve

Whether he has the power to compete with really big boys the likes of Klitschko or Fury , is a worry though

Yeah was really great seeing buttabollox get beat, I had a sneaking feeling there was going to be a bit of a robbery there. If I'm honest that's the only thing that stopped me betting on Lam. Lams a nice boxer, reality is he should lose 40kgs at least. That's a crazy amount..... I watched the fight with a house full of westies (I play for Bay Olympic), we had to watch the warriors game first but it turned out perfectly as my mate my skyed it and by the time we'd caught up and got back to live coverage there was only 5 mins to the main event.

Excuse me guys, but in boxing law an novice is only a novice until 10 fights. Parker may be regarded as a young fighter but he has left his novice behind. It's not stats fault his ten fights were made up with wannabes who duco contracted to be blown away so mecilessly. This maybe the reason behind Jo's lack of fight brilliance last night.

I think Buttabollox couldn't deal with Lams size , the kid did really well , really green but had more skills.I played for Teatatu or nearly 20 years but retired now. Watched the fight out here, The Warriors crapping out worked out well because the guy in charge of the remote gave up on them , so we got to watch more of the fights

Na Sham I wasn't calling Joseph a novice I was referring to Lam

I had a good time but Duco really showed their inexperience in hosting top quality events. I think they ran out of beers before the main event started. We were right on the edge so we kept getting food and drinks no worries, but I felt sorry (not really) for those in the middle seating. I was drinking the free ciders so there was plenty to go around. I also thought Kwadjo won. Great to see a fighter with such honest comments after a fight! Well done Nik.

The best thing to come out of this fight is hopefully the experience Parker will have gained from fighting a live opponent and lets hope it improves him as a fighter. He looked terrible backing straight out, hands down and the amount of times he got caught against the ropes or the corners was troubling. He showed heart though in batting through and we got a good look at his chin. He still needs to work on moving that head though as it looked very stationary at times.

As for Butterbean; if he had any skills it should have been an easy fight. The guy was right in front of him showing no movement whatsoever. I was glad to see him lose.
